You do not need a serial code. I have played on The Sims Online for almost 3 years and I know how this works pretty well.

Just go to http://www.thesimsonline.com and then there is a link for a free trial. You need to register and put in a credit card billing info so that TSO will activate it. It will give you 14 days of free play. It will also lead you to where you can download and install the game.

Once they activate it, you can log on. You dont need any CD for this.
