This is just a matter of personal taste. Neither is "better". Choose whichever you like better, but don't diss me for choosing something else.
Personally, I prefer "flat" ones made by small artisan shops like Cape Cod, Barbara's or Terra because they taste better. But that's just me.

Ruffled
Reasoning:
If you are dipping you dont have to worry about thin chips breaking off in the dip. And if your not dipping and just eating them as a side or alone they are really good and textury [thats not a word.. is it?]

Ruffles fill me up more, but flat chips are crunchier (in my opinion)

Depends on my mood.
For some reason I can eat a nag of unsalted chips all at once, even tho it has little taste.
Or the kettle cooked/homestyle chips. The real crunchy curled up ones yum

Hands down--has to be ruffles. They are thicker and are easier to dip and not break
