My dog is a 55# mixed lab and the vet has prescribed 200mg of doxycycline daily for 3 weeks. Do you have any info or opinions to add?

Yes, that is the correct treatment. Just wanted to say that my dog had ehlichia and underwent similar treatment and was fine. If it is caught early enough, it is quite treatable. Just remember that if you take your dog to a different vet at any time, let them know about the ehrlichia because it can show up on tests even after it has been treated and they may think he has it even though he's already over it.

Sounds like your vet is prescribing the right treatment. This is the antibiotic of choice for ehrlichia, a tick borne disease that can cause bleeding. Follow his recommendations carefully!

My dog had ehrlichiosis also. He used to be given the Doxy for a month after which Tetracycline after that. I trust the submit above as to size of healing. My vet mentioned it should were cured with the one month healing of Doxy. I don't think it ever rather goes away. I consider they may be able to relapse. If the prescription is luxurious on the vet, i do know they may be able to ship it to your pharmacy and it can be lovely cheap that way. You just record the canine with your final name for the prescription. A excellent product to give is called Dyne. It's like make certain for dogs. It's high calorie and offers them a lift of power to get things going. Which you could get it at a feed retailer. Just right success. I hope your pup gets higher quickly.

I have heard doxycycline...they might re-test after the antibiotics are finished. See the quick reference fact sheet.
