Well, I'll tell you. My company (in California) employs about 40 people. When we hire anybody we take a copy of their Social Security card. From their paycheck we deduct all taxes, medicare, etc and Social Security. My company (by law) matches their Social Security deduction. All of the monies are sent each week to the proper government departments. OK no problem. Here is the problem. It takes 18 MONTHS for Social Security to tell me that the persons number that he/she and I have been paying into is false. So it was a phony number. What happens to all the money? They keep it. That's why they wait 18 months. The worst thing is then I have to fire the person has been with me for 18 months. Obviously a good employee.

That is true if you take Social Security in isolation. However, the net is a major loss economically. That is one reason people were so mad when the Senate wanted to give SS benifits to illegals who had been putting money into those accounts.
For example, it costs $18,000 per year to educate a single child in California, and considerably more if it is ESL education. The vast bulk of all services, including education, for poor people is subsidized by people who are not poor, even if the poor people pay all taxes for their income brackets. That is why we limit how many poor immigrants can come.
Meanwhile our own children can no longer get a decent education in our overcrowded, underfunded border state schools, and our health care and other services are failing as well.
The fact that federal accounts like Social Security get some benefit while it is the locally funded programs like education and health care that take a hit is one reason I think the federal government has been so slow to enforce immigration laws.

Come on, we all know this happens everyday. Most of these eligals work the worst jobs around, that we americans don't want to do. It's kind of messed up because who really knows where the money is really going, it is cheating everyone else in the long run, because these eligal families get on welfare, and have lots of babies, and suck the money that way, and that is exactally why my husband and I couldn't get any help when we had no place to live. We had work the income bracket to get state assistance is just below what our income was at the time. So Middle class citizens feel the crunch at this ongoing money laundering system that should be stopped dead in its tracks, but I don't see very many americans standing up to volunteer for some of the grosses jobs in America. I think there should be something done.

You're right there is a huge surplus sitting in social security (millions) for numbers that they can't match. By the way just because the social security doesn't match does not mean that you must terminate employment, you are only required to inform the employee and ask them to correct it. Terminating is completely at your discretion.
Are you saying you deducted social security and not federal or state taxes? I think you probably deducted all applicable taxes and the truth is that many illegals pay both federal and state taxes in addition to social security.

Yes a good employee who has falsified documents and illegally entered this country. There is a new software available that will help companies identify false social security numbers much quicker. Contact INS to get more information.

If Social Security is booming and it's buildings are line with huge amounts of cash why is it the system is expected to be drained by 2042. Illegals can't have it both ways they have to do their part and stop expecting people to resolved their problems and get their documents in order. You should do some research on stolen Social Security numbers and the huge amount of damage its caused.

According to a report in last year’s New York Times, each year, undocumented immigrants pay an estimated $7 billion more than they get from Social Security and $1.5 billion more than they get from Medicare.
Overall, immigrants--both documented and undocumented--are a huge boon to the U.S. economy. And as for what’s “fair,” the U.S. government takes far more from undocumented immigrants than it ever gives back.
Nice try bigot...

I understand how you feel and you make a strong point that perhaps you should petition the government with you and other local business owners that is, but where is the question in all of this.
