Let's just say that under normal mature circumstances - this means that you must be an incredible lady! I'd take it as a compliment

I had women say to me before that it was scary that a good looking guy like you is sitting by yourself at the bar and then they would ask if I was gay and they wouldn't let me prove to them different. How wrong was that?
The more people keep telling you there's something wrong with you the more you start to question yourself and think that maybe they're right. But then it doesn't matter what they think because they really don't know you and its very shallow that they may not even give you a chance so the hell with them cause they'll lose out in the end anyway and they will become lonely wrinkled pruns in their older life if they never change.
Maybe you are hot and that person is just trying to break the ice with you. They probley want you bad and feel they can't have you even if they tried.Maybe your beuty intimidates them.
You just can't stress out over it.Just go with the flow and whatever happens happens.Kick back and relax.Just don't get too independent though because My way or the high way ends up makeing you lose out on possibly good relationships. You want to be good to each other and give and take.
Well I guess I better stick with the main subject.Just don't sweat it and stick to your guns of who you really are.DOn't let anyone make you believe different about yourself unless you don't mind changeing yourself for the better. Goodluck

So, you are beautiful, eh? Well, I am not tooting my own horn but I think I am halfway attractive and ya know what? It's kinda scared people (well, guys) off.. it's intimidating to them. I'd be insulted too if I were you.. but, I'm old and I now think it depends on WHO says this to you. Is it somebody who's a 'nerd?' (I think I'd be insulted.. lol) BUT if it's someone terribly 'kool' I'd take it as a compliment. (Let me guess.. I bet the male friend who disagrees up above IS nice looking.. right?) He's nice looking, he takes it as a 'compliment..' (it stands to reason.) You might be a bit paranoid, but ****, I'd find something else to focus on. The hell with your looks.. you already know you are pretty. Concentrate on some other **** (there are a zillion things that make YOU up, right? right.) Be 'book read' for example.. Get involved in hang gliding.. ****, I don't know.. you know what trips your trigger.. Do it, form friendships w/that crowd and forget compliments.. (They kinda suck anyway.. I never took 'em well myself..always 'read something into it' and **** like you are doing, hon.) later- mel

think about it, a fine female who is single almost impossible because guys would be after you day and night. I mean it is possible but almost every girl I run into that is fine has either a boyfriend or is married or shes in and out of relationships. I would say the same thing if you are fine and single. Its just like running into a good looking guy and he said, im single, would you believe him 100%. say the truth

seriously, it is a compliment. The feeble mind of the straight male cant think very quickly so thats the best they can do. Its a "two birds-one stone" scenario. They (1) are double checking to see the girl they are with is actually single and (2) are trying to compliment you. go with it. : ) and he's not just trying to sleep with you.

Take if from me, it's a complement, your male friend was right, that is what we mean when we say that.
It's utter disbelief, that someone as pretty as you hasn't been snatched up already.
So smile and be happy, it's a good thing.

ur friend is very right. when a man is interested, he will let it be known but in a way as not to look foolish if you might not be interested. no one whats to be rejected, so a man might say something like that so u no there's interest, and 99 percent of the time they would not say that if they didn't mean it.

I think it may be a little of both. SOME men think there MUST be some other "defect". MOST just are curious how an attactive woman hasn't "snagged" a man yet. It's a compliment then :)

It means they are fishing for what's wrong with you. People say this to me all the time (well, they say a variation of it anyway).
I like to interpret it as them saying "Hey, you're so hott! You must be really picky since you can have anyone you want?"
Perception creates reality...

He is using a very old and lame line to get you in the rack! It is old and lame but many women are suckers for compliments and after a few drinks it works!
