I have nero, it came with the computer but it won't let me copy dvds becuse it says they are copy protected.

Every DVD burner comes with a DVD burner software. So if you have a DVD burner contact the vendor for the software.

I use dvd shrink, i am unsure if its free though a friend put it on my computer for me check it out on the net, it produces really good quality dvds and is easy to use once you got the know how. email me if you get it and have troubles.

But if you want all ur software free use linux(ubuntu.org or fedora.redhat.org or gentoo.org(for VERY advanced people)).
