When my dog was spayed, I took her home from the vet, and she wouldn't eat anything. So, I figured she should be eating something. So, I made her a ham&cheese hotpocket. She it down! So, I made her another one and she ate that one too. (She no longer liked her Eukanuba) Then I made her a bowl of chicken noodle soup, and she ate that too! Since then (5 years later), she'll eat her dog food, but will quickly push it away when she smells people food. She eats everything except cucumbers. Why does she like people food so much? I've heard that dogs shouldn't eat people food, but my dog is dog is just fine. She's been eating it (not exclusively) since she was a pup, and now she's fine. She doesn't have any health problems, except she's about 5 lbs overweight her vet says.

She's 30 lbs. Her vet says she should be 25-20. But, i don't want her looking anorexic.
I told her vet that I feed her people food, and she says that it's not good to feed pets people food. But, Mayara (that's her name) she's a maltese mixed with a beagle

When did chicory, carrots, peas, apples and cranberry become dog food ingredients? There isn't much real difference between these foods. One uses chicken and turkey, the other only uses chicken. Neither uses corn or wheat. The biggest difference is the fruits and vegetables in the chicken soup brand. Both are made by the same company and its a good bet that the major ingredients come from the same sources. Unless there is an allergy problem your dog will be fine with either food. Feed whichever one is easier to get. The prices are close enough to the same, especially considering how little one pomeranian will eat. If you were feeding a working dog you might notice a difference between those foods but not with a normal family pet.

Well she'll eat eventually once she's hungry enough so don't worry about that. Feeding her the people food probably got it started. I mean, it's ok to give them people food every now and then but giving her too much people food isn't good. Giving her some cheese or raw eggs or anything that isn't bad for dogs every now and then is ok, but if you keep feeding her people food, she's gonna expect it all the time. Try putting some a raw egg on her dog food or some shredded cheese. That's what we do for my dog sometimes! That way she eats her food but also gets a little treat too! =D
You could also try a new kind of food.
Good Luck and hope this helps! =D

LOL .. which would YOU prefer? people food or dog food?
Dogs are smart!! Especially if they get away with it!
I am glad you dog is healthy. The most important thing to look out for is overweight. You did not say how big the dog is, so I don't know how overweight 5 lbs is for her. If it's a problem, cut down the handouts a bit and increase her exercise.
Make sure she does continue to eat dog food to, so she gets all the nutrients she needs.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU78z
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Because it is seasoned and taste good. Some dogs can't handle people food, it makes them sick, and some can. My mom fed my dog some meatloaf while I was at work and the next day he had diarrhea and I had to take him to the vet because he could not get rid of it.. My other dogs can handle a little people food.

Well some dogs are allowed to eat human food, my relative's dalmation was allowed to eat white rice with a few vegetables. Dogs usually do prefer human food more than dog food because it usually smells better and might taste better.

Have you ever tasted dog food?
Yeah, most humans haven't. That's why they're able to sell dog food that they say dogs love, when really it's simply the only thing available for the poor animal to eat. That is, EXCEPT for human food.

Because it's tasty and there's a variety. I wouldn't want to eat those same old dry kibbles day after day, week after week . . . .
Most dogs don't get too fat is they eat dog food exclusively. I have two unruly grand puppies who are people food crazy. You can't walk away from your plate on the table without them hopping up on a chair and gobbling everything they can as fast as they can.

Dog food is designed to meet the nutritional needs of dogs and to keep them healthy ... they like people food because it probably tastes better, but it is not good for them....does her vet say it's okay to eat people food? I think it's okay to slip her something every now and then.

for a dog, getting people food is like a huge treat, like it would be (for us) getting a huge peice of chocolate cake! And it tastes so much better than that disguting dog food! I can't believe they eat that stuff!!!
