I think that you can do it however you want. I've seen a few bridal parties where the groomsmen looked slightly different from each other, or the best man was different than the other guys. I think that you should take the cue from the bridesmaids. If they are all wearing the same dress including the maid of honor, then the men should probably be dressed the same. If the maid of honor is wearing a slightly different dress, you could slightly vary the best man's tux. If they are wearing different dresses or different colors you can vary the men in the same way. Just be sure that their look coordinates with the girl they're walking with.
As for the groom, usually he looks a little different. At my wedding, the groomsmen wore black tuxes, white shirts, grey vests and grey ties - and my husband wore a similar tux but a little nicer, and a different tie. The result was actually really nice I think. He didn't look too different from them but of course he stood out enough.

The groom should wear white tux, with the orange/red color, and the grooms men should wear black with the orange/red color.
The bride and groom are suppose to be different from the other parties.

Besides the Groom and possibly the Best Man, yes they should be identical. The groom should certainly stand out AS the groom, so although you may go for similar colours, maybe dress it up some, maybe wear a more prominent button-hole and a cravat while the ushers, etc wear a tie. The Best Man maybe a cravat too but the same button-hole as the rest.
There are many ways that you can signify each persons role in the wedding.

The whole groom party should wear the same color, but the groom himself could wear a different color then the rest of the groom party if he was so inclined, that is his (or your) choice.

They should wear black tuxes, or white, but you can mix in the orange color for their bouttoniers or their tie/vest/cummerbund if you like. We had the men in black tuxes with light blue vest and ties, they looked great and went perfectly with the bridesmaids:)

My colors are burgundy and gold. My groom is wearing a gold vest and his attendants are wearing burgundy vests. My brother is giving me away and he is also going to stand in my wedding party, he will be wearing a black vest.
It is all totally up to you. It's your wedding! =)

The men should black tuxedos with orange/red ties and vests. Alternatively they can wear white jackets with black pants and orange/red ties and vests. White tuxedo pants are awful, you can usually see through them.
