What do I think of these illegal Immigrant? I think they should be sent back. They should have to speak ENGLISH. When my family came from Italy they had to learn ENGLISH, they didn't gate a free hand, most of the time they only got a heard time, but they loved this country and did what they had to do to stay here. So the only thing I could say about this is if you do not want to play by our rules GET OUT and go back where you came from. I love this country and I served 24 years in the NAVY, just so people could live free. So like I say if you do not like the rules get out and stay out.

As someone who lives in a border state, only an hour from the border, I feel that more needs to be done. What I don't understand is how our government can just give them money like they do. That's my money to be spent on people in my country who need it. Not the person who sneaks across the border and gets dehydrated and has to take up bed space in the hospital on my tax dollar.
Yes, they should speak English. If I were to move to Germany or some place, I would want to learn German. It just seems natural that you should want to acclimate to a new culture and not have the new culture acclimate to you.
I think it is fair that my ancestors who came from Germany, Ireland, Poland, Lithuania, and Spain had to speak English. They did it, legally, so why can't these people?
They do want a better life, but there is a LEGAL way to do it.

I don't care what language they speak... they are illegal and should be punished.
My ancestors came over and desired to learn.
We are being invaded.
This is a passive invasion and they want southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, And half of Texas.
After the last protests though this has become a bit more than passive.
Welcome ALL immigrants.
Lose the ILLEGALS!

Send em packing if they dont' want to assimilate like our ancestors did. And my ancestors came from Wales and already spoke English thanks. Can I go to Mexico and live without learning Spanish is there an America barrio in Mexico City? I doubt it. Keep your 10 pts, if you or any member of your family is illegal or after spending 30 yrs living here plans to retire in Mexico on the money they took from the American they put out of work by taking lower pay to do the jobs we did before the flood of illegals began coming here since the 80's

I don't think they should be banned (after all, they are human beings,) but I think border control should be tightened, and that they should not be able to have the same rights American citizens do, such as Drivers Licenses and Welfare. Those type of "priviliges," should be reserved for American citizens only, whatever their race may be. As far as learning English goes, they should learn the language. Why would they though when their entire communities and all business they do is in neighborhoods where people only speak their native foreign tongue. I agree though, that if you move to any country, wherever it may be, that you must learn the language of the country you migrate to.

It’s true that immigrants--in particular, undocumented immigrants--tend to earn considerably less than working U.S. citizens. However, according to a 2004 study by the Urban Policy Institute, undocumented workers make up less than 10 percent of the 43 million low-wage workers in the United States.

The idea that 4 million undocumented workers are somehow responsible for keeping down the wages of the other 39 million low-wage workers is nonsensical--and only pits groups of workers against each other.

This claim also ignores the fact that immigrants, both documented and undocumented, are helping take the lead in one of the most important things that can actually raise wages for all low-wage workers--building a stronger union movement.

This goes to all ignorant people that keep on saying that they should go back. Well, Lets have all those Immigrants go back were they came from. Well, if that is the case then there in the right place for those that don't know their HISTORY!!! Mexico was the United States California until they got invaded and raped by WHO??? That's right!!!
And another thing, geniuses!!! Do you have any idea what will happen to our economy??? Who will work underpaid and bust their tale off??? YOU, yeah right?

My ancestors arrived from Germany at Ellis Island (NY) late 1800's, first thing they did was learn how to speak English. This is common sense. The USA isn't "Little Mexico".
If you migrated legally or illegally to Russia, you would insist on not learning the language? get real.

The illegals are already banned!!! They are breaking our laws. I don't care if they can speak English as long as they obey our law and do not cross our borders. My ancestors came over here without breaking the law. Why do you choose to confuse legal and illegal immigration? I assume you do it to further your agenda.

If the person is labelled "illegal" why should he/she learn the local language? That labelling must come to an end, and not by amnesties but by readressing one of the root causes of this problem: "free" trade. Canada, Mexico and the poor in the US are carrying the burden of the North American Free Trade agreement that snatches jobs off their lands, enables US-based companies to pollute their lands (specially Mexico), strips workers off their rights, and creates a new cast of millionaries now in power (Georgie, Cheney, Vicente Fox, and their boys).
