The vast majority of muslims are very peaceful. There is no reason that militant islamics should have the power to influence that they currently have. What the majority DO need to do is to start to speak out more.
The problem is that most of these countries have very little freedom, and until now, none has ever had a Democracy, this is why current events are so very important in the long run for establishing a real peace in the Middle East. Once free people understand that they have the power to affect things, they will. I believe in the power of a free people, and I believe that most do not want the conflicts that have been brought down to them.
Some will suggest nuking them all, other suggest ignoring them and hoping it all goes away, some even still suggest bribing them with rewards for good behavior. Bush on the other hand has come up with the first idea in 30 years that has a decent chance of success, spread Democracy, spread Freedom. Might not be the best plan, sure won't easy, but it is a better plan then any others I have seen proposed.

The ones you call "radical" are, the ones who does not obey their religion's orders exactly, or try to change them. So no, there's not much of that type you mention!
Yes, it's just a few. There are 1,500,000,000(1,5 billion) Muslims in the world, and the terrorist ones are not more than 80,000(I guess most of sources also count sympathizers, not active militants, so 80,000 also includes just symathizers also). And only 1/5 of terrorists in the world are Muslims, other terrorists are belong to other beliefs or they don't believe in anything!..
Here are some things Muslims believe, so you can have an idea:
Killing people is a big sin in Islam.
Killing non-Muslims is even a bigger sin.
Suicide is a big sin in Islam.
In Islam, there's no compulsion about religion.
In Islam, people from other religions/beliefs can worship as they want to...
You have to treat all the people good(including non-Muslims, too).

All religions, beliefs, faiths, sects, groups and people have radicals in their midst. Radicals have been intolerant, authoritative, controlling and murderous through out the history of the human race. Islam, like all religions has a bloody history because of radicals, however Muslims like Christan's, Jews, Buddhist's, and even atheist's practice peace and forgiveness. The God of the Muslim's "Allah", is all loving and all forgiving. Do not be confused or distressed by the sensationalism of what you see on television or read in the newspapers. There are good people in the world as well as bad, the question to ask yourself is which one do you want to be. You have a choice and it always starts with you.

its so good of you to ask i mean with all the media going against Islam and in the same time moderate Muslim's all around the world don't seem to unit against the radical extremists its nice to know that you still want to know the truth
ill keep it simple and im not going to give you a lecture about my religion ill just tell you that im a Muslim girl im Saudi and my best friend is Irish ! I'm 22 i go to university i study medicine and i choose that field because i grew up watching the news and saw how bad it is in the middle east and the only thing i can do is to help in that smallest part , i do cover my hair but that does not restrict me from fully living my life i have Friends we go out and have fun like people all around the world do i have the best parents and i travel alot now thats does not fit the describtion of someone who will go and do something crazy like blow up a bus full of children does it! all people around me in my country feel ashamed and frustrated by those who use Islam for terror and we have been afected by that as well the problem is we dont seem to unit against that and i dont know if it is because we are waiting for someone to take the first step or we just feel helpless either way thier is no excuse i hope one day we can stand up all togather and say that those terrorists do not represnt islam but it is not that simple but still one lives in hope
i know you got so many good answers and this is one of the few times that i dont answer a question just to get points i truley want you to believe that i am a muslim and i live a normal happy productive life and i dont go to bed everynight wishing i could go and blow something up ( i dream of guys i like usually:P) and that most of muslims are like that

nope, not all of them are terrorist type. because it is the second religion world wide. which means alot are muslims and there are not alot of terrorism really. and those who are related to muslims doesnt necessary mean they're right. maybe they're just big asses who dnt know what islam is but hate it big time. like those who told you yes they are and asked you to study it, sure, go study it and i'll help you with tht if u want to, it would only prove him wrong. it's not a happy news when you hear innocent ppl died, children, old ppl, women... there's nothing gained in tht.
but really, have you ever thought why do terrorist attack? beside the fact tht they lost their brain, maybe some lost something else, a wife, a mum, a home.. maybe he's just someone who lost ways of letting you hear him. maybe he's trying to do what's been done to him. tht's a psychology point of view, btw. but it does make sense. i didnt smile when i heard bout terrorists attacking homes and bars, but my first thought was, now those ppl know what those terrorists went through once upon a lifetime! and i felt sorry for both sides.
btw, Jihad is an actual real part of Islam, but what terrorists are doing, is NOT jihad.

the religion of islam itself is not hateful. The majority of islamic people around the world are peaceful. The muslims involved in terrorism is part of a radical version of islam called Hamas. They brainwash muslims into becoming terrorists. Remember, these guys are killing muslims too. And there are plenty muslims in the world living peacefully among everyone else. Don't hate, investigate!

When people and nations live in darkness, they lose sense of direction. In an information age, knowledge–driven global culture of reason, ignorance is no longer a requisite to learn from the living history. The previous Empires knew their geography and limits, but the newly articulated American Empire in its infancy, is challenging to the limits of the Laws of God and appears obsessed with “fear” of being replaced by the new emerging nations of Asia and South America. Bush invoked the “War on Islam”, as a dictum of power, not reason and wisdom, to camouflage the prospective future with acts of barbarity and to dispel the notion of accountability in global affairs. Historically, people and nations pursuing this path of behavior have ended up in self-defeat and self-destruction.
The 9/11 attacks and religious doctrines have no common ground. Hourly paid intellectuals turned guardian of approved truth, allege that Islam breeds terrorism. The Western mass media complements the scientifically discovered notion to poison the public perceptions and source of judgments against the Arabs and Muslims. The Neo-Conservatives helped to rob the humanity of its human heritage. The perception of ‘radical Islam’ was invented and enhanced by the ‘fear’ of terrorism and as a precursor to attack Muslims.
But, be under no illusion, Muslims do answer back with the language the Bushites understand. Tune in to the right channels and, watch with awe and wonder.

i wont call you prejudice because of your curiosity.. so it's like this the radical did not know what is the meaning of "jihad" and because of that this thing happens..OK there is just a few of these radicals in the worlds..well according to researches that had been carried out these radical\terrorist have so little learning of Islam...for an example:in the quran god had say if you want to war for the sake of your religion, race and country(which is jihad) it is okay but do not kill old people and the children especially woman.. god also says that it is wrong for somebody to kill himself(suicide)but there are still suicide bombing. In the prophet Muhammad hadith he said: anybody that kill innocent people (women, old folks, children) are not my ummah....so the conclusion is not all Muslims are radicals

That's a dumb question, sorry to say. Not knowing about Islam has nothing to do with whether or not they are radical. Muslims can be all races, and it has nothing to do with terrorist actions.

no not alot of muslims r radical its just the same as when a bunch of christian ppl burn down clinics that do abortions, are alot of christians radical like that? no, its the same thing its just cuz the media portrays muslims so horribly so they can garner support from ppl that do not know any better. its a load of crap really. the person above me is an ignorant prick he hasnt read anything hes read one sided biased bs. ppl pick and choose stuff from the qoran to make it sound bad. they pick and choose stuff from the qoran to make the religion sound radical, intolerant, and and anti-feminist. dont go to stupid sites and try to understand the religion, read the book itself that way u no ur getting the real information
