You should probably look for the nest it fell from, and its parents will feed it.

Ohh what a shame, the parent of the bird will be out looking for it, I would put it back where you found it as soon as possible, they will be distresses and they are the best ones to look after their own babies.
You are making the parents distressed and the baby bird distressed, you cannot feed it properly or teach it to fly. You cant keep a wild bird in a cage as that is not only cruel it is against the law.
PUT IT BACK where you got it from and leave baby birds alone.

Yes you can put it in a box it would be the best place because the wire will hurt its wings if it is a baby without feathers it would be best to get a eyedropper and fill it with soaked dog food (so its mushy) and put it behind its tongue and feed it it would be best to find out what it is and if it has feathers just put the food in his mouth MAKE SURE ITS NOT UNDER THE TONGUE because if it is it will suffocate and die its best to make nest of cloth for it to sleep in and if a cat got it then its the end because cat saliva has a bacteria that kills birds don't give it water unless it is old enough to drink it and if it is featherless the mushy dog food will give it its supplement if you don't think that's enough give it wet bread crumbs Thanks for listening

I think it depends on the age of the bird and condition its in when you find it. I found a very young one, went and bought nightcrawlers from a local fishing store and made worm mush , the bird would not eat for anything.. sadly it died.. I did some research on the comp and found that they need to eat about every 2 hrs and that water isnt necessary at this point due to the moisture in the food. Keep it warm, and good luck.

I learned the hard way that any food, even worms, you feed the baby has to be ground up. The bird's digestive system will not break down whole food. It has to be ground up so that it resembles the mother regurgitating the food into its mouth. And you will need some kind of heat source to keep it warm. Here are some links you should read:

We just rescued one last week. He is eating dried catfood soaked in water - he takes it off my fingernail or the tip of a knife. Today we started him on Meal worms from the pet store and he gobbles them up like crazy! If possible put him in a small box - ours likes to sleep with his head and neck propped up in the corner, and we have him on a heating pad set on low. He has more than tripled in size and is growing feathers! His eyes opened two days ago. They need to eat a ridiculous amount of food at this age - Peep eats 10-12 times a day. Make sure you keep him clean and dry - ours is resting on toilet paper on top of wood shavings in a little box.

Call the Audubon society or a vet if they won't take care of it. You wouldn't want the little bugger to die. Several things could be wrong with him. If he's sick, he could make your keet sick too.

PS the whole "touch it and it's mother will never touch it again" is a wives tale.

Don't feed him till you talk to a bird doctor.

You should probably take it to a vet if it's hurt, you never know, it might have a disease or even the bird flu. If the bird is ok, then you should let it out. Another thing is that I know this might sound funny to you but some one said something simillar to me.... "if you take something from nature, it will take something from you"

well if you dont want it to die, now you have to take care of it, once human hands have touched a baby, they mom bird wont mess with the baby anymore. the best way to feed it is with tweezers, feed it things like flies, or any small bug you can find. you can give it water with a small seringe(sp?). i raised a baby pigeon like this

I've got a lot of links to wildlife carers from a lot of countries on my site, at
http://au.geocities.com/leaswebsite/links under "Wildlife Assistance" - just click on them all, click on your country and state, have a browse, 'phone them and ask their advice.

Very very best of luck.
