Might want to try a Nissan Murano. Chevy used to make the Venture- looked sortof like a van but handled like a car (had split rear seats and held 7 people), or a Chrysler Pacifica. I don't recommend an SUV. The maintenance is high, gas mileage is not good, and they have gravity centers in places that make them prone to rolling if you need to do some defensive driving.

I had a Honda Civic the entire time my kids were in car/ booster seats and it was probably the best family car I've ever driven.

I would suggest a 2007 Dodge Caliber SXT. It's a crossover SUV, which means it is basically a large car. I purchased mine for $17,335 and I could not be happier. It has 24/30 mpg and variable transmission, which means you can't feel the shifting. I bought mine because I get carsick in small cars and I wanted something that had a lot of space, and that I could afford, considering I am a college student.
