Exercise before you eat. Otherwise, you might start to cramp up if you already have a lot of food in your stomach. Just make sure to drink some water or gatorade before and during exercise to get hydrated.

Both! It's best to eat a little before so you get the
energy and blood sugars up to give you better
performance. A little afterward will help you recover
and allow for tissue regeneration.
And the guy below who says calorie burn will stay higher if you avoid eating after you work out is full of ****! That doesn't make any sense at all. Myths still abound in health and weight loss. It's because we don't teach people to understand science which is what fitness is about.

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming,running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions,pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull,leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

I exercise after a small breakfast - usually slow-cooked oatmeal. The complex carbs in it allow me to be strong and workout longer. I then have some sort of additional protein when I get home to help feed my muscles.

Before is better because exercising on a full stomach can make you feel nauseous. Anyway make sure you have a bottle of water available through your session so you don't get dried up!

well if it is right AFTER you eat maybe not because you can develope cramps. If it is about and hour after yes. you will still have energy to work out. Getting up and immediatly exercising may not be a good thing..eat THEN exercise..but as i said before NOT right after you eat.

you can always do a walk or run before breakfast and the rest of yr routine later on in the day but not straight after a meal youll end up feeling sick. have to let yr food settle first. there are some good tips on this in this article

Most people would prefer before but it doesnt matter. As long as you burn calories, you are doing great. However, imagine going through 8 hours sleeping without food. I dont think you would have energy for intense workout so best if you have a little snack. Like a handful of nuts.
