Coming from someone who sufered from severe anxiety and frequent anxiety attacks: It can affect different people in different ways. However, I don't think I've ever heard of it causing a problem when participating in cardio activities. What you could do is check out WebMD.com. You can look up symptoms and affects of anxiety, and even look up the syptoms you are experiencing and what they could be.
Sometimes doing research on your own is EXTREMELY helpful when you are not quite comfortable with a Doctors explnation, or when a doctor passes something off that is still bothering you.
Another thign to keep in mind is its always possible to see an additional doctor to get a second opinion. Some doctors are so over-booked that they just pass things off without even seeming one bit concerned, just to save them the time to go take care of other patients.
But yea, I would start by researching it, like I said try WebMD.com, if you don't find anything helpful, keep doing research, you can find just about anything in teh internet these days =)
Good luck, and I really hope every thing works out well for you

Hi, I am sorry you are going through this. What you have is yes, anxiety, which I have experienced, but you are going through a more extreme form of anxiety which is called panic or panic attacks. This causes physical symptoms such as shortness of breath, pounding heart, feeling like you are dying, headaches, sweating, emotional distress, etc. My mom suffered from what you are describing for many years, and what you need is to see a psychologist or therapist who can help you and guide you. You need to get to the root of the problem and find out what is causing these feelings so you can change it. You could probably also really benefit from some anti-anxiety medication. You can see a psychiatrist for this, or even ask your regular physician. You can google panic disorder or panic attacks and you will find lots of information and online support groups. I assure you there will be no permanent damage to your body from this, but you should really take care of it with professional help before it gets worse and takes over your life. Good luck!

I am not a doctor, but I do know about anxiety and depression. All of your sypmtoms can be attributed to anxiety or depression. Laziness, fatigue, rapid heart beat or palpitations, light headedness. Unfortunately, these can also be symptoms of a larger problem. I know it's not what you want to hear, but the best thing to do would be to get a complete physical from your doctor. Rule out the Physical then you can deal with the emotional or stress. There is therapy and great medicines out that can help with these symptoms.

i lived with somthing similar for years but i dont think quite as serious as you got. first of all i would ask myself if there is some terrible circumstances that im worrying about that could be causing that. if there is no reason, then i would get a second opinion from a doc especially because you say that exercizing doesnt alleviate the symptoms...it always did for me. it sounds weird, but some simple meditation and breathing exercizes in a quiet place for 15mins a day helped me to. i'm also sensitive to certain things that really mess with me like paint fumes, cigarette smoke, some perfumes and other airborn stuff...that can give me an instant headache and a hotflash or tight feeling in the chest or nausea...i noticed a marked departure from most of that when i got rid of the last girlfriend that smoked a couple of years ago, so be sure its nothing in ur environment that may be affecting you...

I've had really bad anxiety too. Your not crazy and your not dying even though you may feel like it. Some ppl may suggest seeing a professional, which has never worked for me but might work for you. I get really bad anxiety still once in awhile, but not as bad as a few years ago............What has worked for me is trying to get the fears off your mind by keeping you distracted with something else such as: reading, listening to music, watching a movie, ect. i hope this helps you

My mum had difficulty breathing and had similar symptoms to the ones you are experiencing, the docs said it was stress and anxiety first but later they discovered she had blood clots in her lungs.
it could be stress and anxiety as they can do anything to your body. But it could be something else.
If you are worried, go back to your doctor or get another opinion elsewhere.

As for damaging your heart and lungs, I don't think there will be permanent damage. You just need to get everything checked out by a nurse or doctor.

Even a person in great physical shape can be greatly affected by anxiety. It does horrible things with your nervous system. You seem to have it bad, so go to the doctor about it, cause if untreated it could lead to a heart attack!

Go see your Dr.. You might also want to consider some sort of therapy. This doesn't mean you're crazy just that sometimes life is overwhelming and it helps to talk to someone. Best of luck to you!
