first you want to let your audience know that you acknowledge their presence.
"good evening. i'd like to begin by thanking all of you for joining me tonight in presenting an award/____ to blah, blah, blah."
remember that you are there to present the award, however, you want to keep your audiences attention as well as the recipient's.
you can email me if you need help. i don't mind.

addressing the audience means find out who you're talking to. if you're speaking in front of a bunch of funeral directors maybe you shouldn't make comments about the audience feeling kinda dead. if you're addressing a group of elderly people don't bring up the importance of not squandering your youth. learn who will be in your audience so you cover material that is important to them and does not insult their sensitivities.

It means to know the people to whom the speech will be delivered to and choose your words and phrases based on that. It's ok to use slang and such when you are talking to your friends, but you wouldn't do those same things when you are speaking to your grandparents or to your church congregation.

it means do a speech that interests your audience...if they are older don't do something about pokemon, etc., guys- don't do something about women and other way around.

I don't know--but I hope it's not in English, or you're screwed.
