I think it's gone overboard, when the process is regulated, guided, it's got good potential for the future, provides opportunies for those that need em, but I think an integrated approach is really important to prevent stuff from going completely nutz.
If you were in the kitchen, making up a meal, you wouldn't dump stuff in the pot without thinking about it. Well, you might, but I'm not coming to YOUR house if you cook that way! LOL
I think the 'chefs' behind this whole immigration craze need to stop what they're doing, and re-read the instructions on the back of the box, because what they're doing right now as far as I'm concerned is making a MESS. Balance is everything, and good oversight is important, to help prevent a destructive situation from coming about for anyone involved. America's the land of opportunity, so the rhetoriticians say it, but it's also the land of opportunity for people with low scruples, shifty eyes, and questionable motives. We gotta have a good process for all of this, that's what legal immigration's all about. If it's just 'bums rush', it's gonna get stupid, already has in some places, could get worse, too. People without resources tend to adopt a liberal philosophy toward enriching themselves that doesn't have anything to do with holding down a regular job. That has some pretty negative implications...especially on the part of people that might end up getting their resources carted off in the process of someone else's personal enrichment campaign. That's where I'm a fan of the christian value set, the 10 c's, even if you're not a bible-thumper they're worthy of consideration...

I think that this has been a problem for quite some time and the government has let it slide for a LONG time. Because of 9/11 they are just recognizing it and the security problems it may pose. I will say that I am all for people coming to America as long as they do it legally. The US has let people come here and stay for far too long, but the process to become a citizen is extremely long and needs to be fixed. For some they have been waiting 20+ years to get their papers only to be deported. I think we should also address some of the issues that are upsetting people such as higher wages, the hiring of illegal immigrants, and the benefits afforded to them. I will say one thing about the hispanic parents.... I teach children of illigal immigrants and they VALUE the education their children are getting and make it a point to ALWAYS come to conferences and make sure their children are behaving and trying to learn the language. The ones that I know are wonderful, charming, and motivated people who truly do want a better life for their family. The system needs to be fixed.....period.

I think that Immigration is a big problem here in the U.S.
Immigrants that are coming from any place in the world to the U.S. is for something...a better life that their country can't give them. I mean Mexico has to do something quick about that situation..they need to start producing more jobs to its people and stop curruption. Mexico needs a good president and citizens that can do something for its country and stop robbing the poor people that can't defend themselves. they need someone to make JUSTICE! If Mexico had jobs and opportunities, Mexicans wouldn't be coming to the U.S. for a better life. The people that comes to the U.S. do such heavy work and then get pay a misery that is not fair. Those people do work that Americans won't do. Another thing is that the Immigrants that are living here, they make the situations worst, ( people changing their names, giving wrong/false information for the Income Tax and that .) They need to do things legally. Because of those people ALL immigrants pay for their mistakes. Bush needs to just give papers to the ones that doesn't have any ilegal things in their record. People that just deserves them. Also immigrants have to understand that this is not their country.. so they need to respect their culture, language, religion, etc..(way of life) Stop descriminations too againts everyone! We need to be fair and equal. WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! AND PRONTO! And don't be to harsh on them. I'm with the immigrants that do the right thing. ( as not telling wrong information to get more money and stuff liked that!)

I don't have a problem giving the people that are here a chance to be citizens. however I think we should make it so that we stop the flow of new illegal immigrants after they do. I understand that they are just people who are looking to support their family but to reform it is going to have to take place on both the Mexican and American sides. America should enforce the laws we have and Mexico should do something to make it so that their citizens don't have to come here.

We want more immigrants in New York City! It has enabled this city to maintain its status as the nation's largest--and most culturally vibrant & diverse city. Not to mention the great economic engine it is for the region & the nation. In the 70's this city was depopulating--& if it wasn't for immigrants, this city would be a "has been" and part of the economically depressed/depopulating & brain-drained region. We don't need that (no one does). So, tell immigrants to choose New York if they are not wanted elsewhere.

Tear down the boarder between the USA and Mexico and take over the country and made them another state added onto the U.S. .
This would cure the problem of illegal immigration and make the U.S.A. even bigger and stronger then it currently is. I think it would be a profitable idea. What do you think ?

Coming here legally is fine, but illegally no...
My father, who has done things the right way, had to wait 12 freakin years just for his papers to pass by the national governmet for them to give him an ok to come to the U.S. He had to wait this long because there were so many others ahead of him in line that want to come to U.S. as well.
Why he wanted to come? Because he wanted a better life for his family and not go through the corruption of his former country.
And for those that came here just by crossing and jumping over a fence-----YOU BETTER GET BACK IN LINE BECAUSE MANY OF US(natuaralized citizens who've done it the right way) HAVE WAITED TOOO LONG AND WORKED HARD TO COME LEGALLY.
SO I DON'T SUPPORT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!

I think the gov knows something they aren't telling the general population, or they wouldn't have done what they did so quickly.
In fact, I suspect they are doing something even more sinister and keeping our focus on this and other issues.
