I feel God's presence when I am in service to others. I feel God's presence when I am around very small children and very old people. I feel Him when I'm at the ocean or in the desert or on a mountain. I feel God's presence when I look into a microscope or a telescope. I feel God's presence when I love.

Being a christian, I feel Gods presence all the time. But , you asked when do I feel closer to God. That would have to be when I am going through hard times, I know he is there helping me through it, and when I am in my room reading my Bible or when I am praying, he is always at my side.
Or how about when my kids are about to get the best of me, he's there to help calm me down.

I believe I feel his presence when alot of good things happen to me. like my job interviews, or when I get good news about something that I've been anxious about. I know he's there when I'm sad and all of a sudden I stop crying and think about the bright side of things. I'm also going to church this Sunday for the first time in a long time, I am anxious to go.

I feel God's presence, always. He is in my heart and mind, silently giving me strength when I need it, unasked. Usually, I don't notice, but if I stop, and let myself feel what's inside, there's a gentle strength which isn't mine. It couldn't be, since it feels too pure, and limitless. Then a tingle spreads throughout my body, like an inner glow. Seems odd, but it is there.

I often feel close to God, but it's usually on occasions where I have the peace of mind and/or peace in my environment (no distractions) to focus on him:

When I'm praying
When I'm worshipping (at church or at home, or even in my car - anywhere!)
When I am walking in nature
When I sit at my bedroom window and it's quiet
When I'm overjoyed
When I'm crying
When I'm troubled
When I'm weak

Those are probably most of the situations I can think of at the moment where I feel closer to God. It it amazing how near he always is, and so faithful!!

when I was in Mecca, I felt a PRESENCE that was very moving, it made other impressions ( sight & sound of thousands of people around me ) disappear. I don't know if it is GOD or Gabriel, but it's presence made me cry with gratitude

I recognize God's present most when I am in need. When I am in serious need of something, I beg God to have mercy on me and help me. Then, after the struggle, there is no better thing than looking back and seeing what God has done for me!
