Sometimes if it installs successfully, it may be able to run on XP.
First, try to install the program. If it won't install at all, you are sorta out of luck. You can try to install it on a 98SE machine, then copy/burn the whole installed program onto a cd, then move it to the XP computer. It's a pretty brute method, but what else can do you do if it just won't install?
Second, try to run it. If it won't bulge, find the execution file, then right click it -> properties -> compatibility tab. In that tab, maybe a few adjusting can get it to work. Not a guaranteed method, but worth a try.

98se programs should still work in Windows XP, as it's mostly back-compatable. Windows XP, though it doesn't run through DOS, has a DOS emulator which can run these programs. You may need to right click on the program link and go to "properties" to configure the compatibility mode settings that would allow it to run properly if you run into problems.

Have you tried running the software in XP? While MS's track record for backwards compatibility is in general fairly shoddy there are a number of programs I've used recently that where originally coded for win98 and run just fine in XP.

most programmes for windows 98 will still work on an xp machine but if your having problems try using the programme compatibility wizard in your accessories menu in your start menu. Just follow the prompts and tell it what you want it to do.
