Did you sign the enlistment papers yet? If you did, you might be stuck. I would think about what you really truly want out of your life right now and decide. If you are stuck, you are stuck for the time you signed up for, while there think of what you want when you get out, you should be able to get some college funds from being in the service. If you really truly don't wanna go and got sucked in by some fancy officer going to your school and making it seem glamourous, then talk to a lawyer, if you have any medical problems now would be the time to enhance upon them. I hope you find the right path you want to take.

If you have already signed the enlistment papers and are officially in the Navy, it is a little late to "have doubts". Suck it up, concentrate on getting through recruit training, then make the best of whatever field you are entering in the Navy. Good luck to you!!

Alot of posts are crap - just simple words. Everyone has a comment - are they jealous of those who've surpassed every benchmark of personal strength they can imagine? phffft.
The commercials don't lie, grrl. Do you wanna be more than you've ever thought possible?? Don't suck it up - pin up!

Having doubts is a good thing... 10 years from now when you stand back and revel in your personal accomplishments, you'll understand why.

I looked backed once and saw where I was then, and what I can do now. With 17 years of service..... I only look forward.

Take all the energy you've put into worrying about the future, and re-focus it on being the best sailor you can be. Do your damnedest to be best in your class, because you only get one opportunity to do that. Just remember that basic will only be nine weeks of your life, and you'll be better for having completed it. Yes, the DIs are going to yell, but as long as you're putting forth 100% effort, you can have confidence that they're yelling at someone else.

Oh, and if you run into an ET2 Charles Wood, punch him in the face for me.

I am a former active duty Marine, and have a question for you. Why would you be having doubts? You signed the contract, and should have had some convictions in your mind as to why you were signing and what the implications would could and should be. Why the second thoughts?

If you trully are female you should have SERIOUS questions about why you are contemplating joining the Navy.

You need to join the Air Force if any service.

Also if you "need" something to do Community College is always a better idea...(except in NY)

Hang in there, and just remember the reasons you joined in the first place. They're going to hand your *** to you, but if you can get through bootcamp, you're in good shape from then on.
