Not unless the vet has prescribed them. if your dog doesn't need antibiotics or doesn't have an infection, then they shouldn't be getting anything but a heartworm preventive.

Don't do anything without your vet's say so
Animals metabolize things differently than humans.
Some pills are OK, like Prozac. Somethings like aspirin can kill cats, and chocolate can kill dogs.
Some humans are allergic to penicillin, so I would be careful. Consult a vet. Plus, you don't know what the appropriate number of milligrams are. You might think it would be OK to give an equivalent mg. per pound that you would to a person. But what if it needs to be halved, or doubled for a dog?
If it needs to be halved you could hurt the liver/kidneys. If it needs to be doubled you could create resistant bacteria. What if it isn't a bacteria infection at all and you just delay getting an accurate diagnosis of something serious?
I hope everything goes well for your dog. If it is something small, like a skin infection the size of a quarter I would think it would heal on it's own just shave the fur around it, and keep it clean.
If it is something bigger, or another animal bite, or a foul discharge from a body part they need to see the vet.
Good luck

i was ordered by my vet to give a puppy i was fostering amoxcicilan (excuse me if the spelling is off). It is basically Penicillian, but i think you should consult your vet before you give your dog any of those pills. While the chemicals in the pills might not harm your dog, the dosage in each pill might.

Did the vet order the medicine for the dog? If you are just giving it for whatever reason, I wouldn't mess with Penicillin. Many people are allergic to it, and it can cause severe reactions like swelling of the tongue and throat, difficulty breathing, hives, vomiting, and on and on. It can be a very dangerous medicine, if never taken before. If the vet gave it to you, then I am assumng it would be safe.

If the vet told you to give him pills, then just wrap it in a piece of cheese.
