Imagine that you saw someone in the local Wal-Mart that made you feel the effects of "love at first sight". You know? that desire to want to know someone you thought you could spend the rest of your life with. that is the kind of desire God responds to and the kind of question you have asked. You seem to have a burning desire to know HOW to develop that life long closeness with God. It is done by developing a personal relationship with Jesus. Talk to Jesus just like you would talk to that person at the Wal-Mart. He feels the same way about you! Because He is God, make a habit of getting on you knees (a humble position). I promise you, He will respond! Ask Him to make himself positively evident to you, a "without a doubt" kind of evidence. and if you read the bible, start with something God wrote with His own finger. If you want love Him the way He loves you, be obedient to the laws of love in the manner that a falling apple is obedient to the laws of gravity. Ask Jesus to speak to you and to share his desires for you. Most of all, TRUST what He says to you. He already knows what is best for you and most beneficial for you. but keep in mind, you may find times when you will disagree with him. It will be at those moments when your faith in His love for you will be tested. and if you fail any test, just remember He will always give you an opportunity to take the test again and again until you pass each test you take.

I know, it's hard. I am very religious and trust in God with all of my heart and soul. Most of the time though, I feel that my relationship with Him is very weak in the sense that my spiritual connection is lacking. Some people say, "Oh, God talks to me." Well, He doesn't talk directly to me. This is not to say that I don't try to follow His will for my life and don't think of Him before I do anything, but it makes me sad, because I do want to have a stonger relationship with Him. I wonder, "Am I praying wrong." No one can help you develop a spiritual connection. It is one that can only be developed through prayer. Pray to God that He will help you to grow closer to Him. It seems like you are on the right track, though. Trust me, God is listening, even though we may not hear Him or think so.

In order to have a relationship with anything, one must first identify what it is that they are trying to relate to. What do YOU believe God to be? Research the different religions of the world, and see which one fits YOUR ideals. From there, each religion has it's own Spiritual material (Bible, Koran, etc.) that can instruct the individual as to how it's specific God wants it's elect to live and what guidelines they should follow, and how to enhance each individual's relationship with it's Deity.

Sit in a circle with 4 candles in each direction North, South, East, and West, call the corners and ask that the Gods enlighten you spiritually. Thank the gods and extinguish the candles in the oppisite order.

The best way. as other have said. Read the bible, pray, let god into your heart and live god's love. But most of all, romans 0:9,10. You cant have a spiritual connection until this is done.
Then speak in tongues as much as possible.

Pray. Get a bible. Read it. Obey God. Ask God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to help you. Confess that Jesus is Lord over your life and that you believe he died for your sins on the cross and also confess that you believe he was resurrected. Belive in God, in Jesus and the Holy spirit (and the bible). Read books, and listen to tapes, and use other resources that can help you understand the bible. Keep praying to God and reading the bible. Praying is talking to God and reading the bible is listening to God. He'll tell you what to do. Find a church in your community and fellowship with other Christians through bible study and other groups. If you haven't been baptism, I highly suggest that you pray to God about it and ask him to help prepare you for this big step. Make a choice to give your life over to God, afterall it is his life, not yours, let him be in charge over you. You'll never regret it. God bless you.

prayer...reading the Bible...here's something that i found to be really helpful in terms of understanding...get a Bible that has the words of Christ in red, and then read those and then go back and read the surrounding text...do something nice for someone else without their knowing it...think about someone that grates on your last fishy nerve and think of at least two qualities that they have...find someone who believes and ask them about God...a true believer will answer respectfully and honestly without any put downs or condescension...but, prayer is the best way...trust me, He's listening-God bless you...

the best way to get to know God is reading his word so that you will get a better understanding of who he is and what he stands for and also talking to him..it's difficult to have a strong relationship with anyone without communication.
