Simply because many beliefs held by Catholics (as well as Baptists) are not Bibically based. Such things as the Rosary, the Trinity, the Forgivness of Sins by other men and not God, praying to "Saints" for intercession when the Bible says only thru Christ can you approach God, and belief that the Pope is infallible (which the Bible says "all men fall short of the glory of God" and are sinners, everyone. Most of these were and are man made doctrines that were created after the 5th century (except the Trinity, which was 3rd Century), so that's why. Don't believe it? Your at Yahoo! do a search!!!

What makes People think Catholics are not Christian as ....
People?
You mean Baptists?
If you hang with a group long enough you start to believe even "stronger" in what they all think. Mostly it seems that the questions are more of "style" than meaning. Do Charismatic Catholics think the same?
Catholics who become Baptists may have a point in that the religion that is chosen rather than the one inherited often gets more devotion.

There are some baptists who will say they are not christian that christians are wrong. Some baptists think that baptist is a religion when it is only a branch of christianity. I live in Mexico where "catholics" think that christianity is a completely different religion; I have even heard ordained priests call "christians" heretics. People are stupid all over. Believe and worship in the way that works best for you! : )

Only a person who shares that view can adequately answer the question. I have found that there was a difference in practice and belief of Catholics and Roman Catholics. Those who adhere to the Orthodox view have beliefs that are not in line with traditional Christianity. (Mainly it's the "Mary being the mother of God thing.")

I think part of the misconception is that a lot of Catholics don't really understand that Catholicism is one of the many denominations of Christianity. It surprised a lot of people to find out that the Catholic Church recognizes one Christian baptism for the forgiveness of sins. While there is a lot that divides us, in baptism, we are one.

Nothing at all, it is prejudice on the part of baptists to think they are better at all, they are not.

I don't think there are varying degrees of Christianity. If you believe in Christ as the savior you're Christian, if you don't, you're not Christian. There isn't really a grey area in that.
