I found that when you are sitting in your chair and can~t get comfortable no matter what you do, try and roll up a terry cloth towel and put it under the hip or thigh part of the leg that has sciatica. This usually helps me to diminish the pain somewhat. Water exercises {in a spa or a heated swiming pool} helps, too much stretching ususally makes it worse. I had a tens unit with the lead wires hooked up to your legs and the unit which would massage my leg several years ago but that didn~t help much. They say surgery may help but they say it only lasts for so long. All I can say I pity you and you just have to live with it. sorry...

It is important to put a pillow between your knees when you are on your side. This keeps the hips in alignment & prevents pressure on the nerve. Sciatica is usually caused by pressure on the spinal column from bulging discs or arthritis. Always lift heavy objects by using correct posture, bending knees & using the thigh muscles. See a MEDICAL doctor for relief, physical therapy prescription, etc.

well, i had this same thing about two years ago...........after going through about three months of physical therapy, actually slipping my disc, then about five more months of physical therapy, most of my symptoms went away. I know this sounds extremely time consuming, but it actually worked........the doctor i went to did a regimin of deep tissue massage, stretches according to the extremity of the pain and then alternations of heat and cold compresses.............................good luck

Try lying on the floor on your back and hugging your knees up to your chest. It worked for me.
Also try cold compresses and ibuprofen - they should both reduce the inflammation of the nerve (I think this is what causes the pain).
