1/2 cup butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 loaf unsliced Italian bread
Directions:
Combine butter and garlic in a small microwave dish. Microwave on high for 1 - 2 minutes, until butter is barely melted. Remove from microwave and stir in Italian seasoning, paprika and Parmesan cheese.
Slice bread into thick diagonal slices. Place slices on a large baking sheet. Spread top of each slice with garlic butter. Place in oven, about 4 inches from the broiler. Heat on broil for 2 - 3 minutes, until lightly toasted. Serve immediately.

You can make a slightly lower cholesterol version of most of these recipes by substituting some olive oil for all that butter too.
So it'd be chopped garlic (jar or by hand), butter and/or olive oil, herbs (basil and oregano are a definite must but you can experiment with a little rosemary as well). Warm these through in a sauce pan, then spoon onto your sliced up loaf of italian bread (which I put on a foil lined cookie sheet). For not squishy bread, cut the bread up a few hours before leave it out to dry a little bit. We're not looking for hockey pucks, but some drying on the top.
I do the under the broiler method or in a toaster oven. After they've browned just a bit, I take them out and add a sprinkle of romano or parm cheese and a blob of ricotta or fresh mozarella, then throw them under the broiler again for just a moment. Of course, that adds to the whole cholesterol thing again, but I figure with the mostly olive oil base, it maybe evens out.
Super yummy and even passed the old italian auntie taste test.

Ok, I'm different. Here is another way.
Take a head of garlic. Separate the individual cloves, I like to slice the end of each clove also. Place in the center of a large piece of aluminum foil. Season with kosher salt and ground black pepper. Sprinkle olive oil over them. Seal the aluminum foil loosely to create baking bag. Place in the oven at 350 for one hour. You can also toast your bread during the last few minutes or while the garlic is cooling. Remove the foil from the oven. When cool open the foil and squeeze each individual garlic out from their skins. Now butter your bread as normal, place roasted garlic on bread and spread.
Roasted garlic is so good. It's great just by itself. Trust me, if you try this you will be raving to all of your friends. If you have leftover garlic, put it in a jar, cover with canola oil (olive oil clouds too much in the refrigerator), add a little vinegar or lemon juice and some herbs (I like fresh tarragon). Seal the jar and refrigerate for up to two weeks.

It's just butter (or margarine) with garlic and parsley. Use the jarred chopped garlic. Add enough to 1/2 cup of butter to your liking, and very finely chopped parsley for colour. Put back in the fridge for a while and then spread on French bread and toast.

I usually take softened butter add a little garlic powder and dried Italian seasoning spread on bread any kind I've even used reg. white bread but italian loaf bread works the best. Then sprinkle with parmesan cheese then broil in the oven or toaster oven. until golden brown and slightly crunchy around the edges.

I would take minced garlic and soft butter and cream them together and spread it on your loaf of bread. You can do it with whole garlic or even garlic powder. Sprinkle some parlsey and fa la your done.
or
You can use Olive Oil instead of butter and brush it onto your bread.
