it can be alot of breeds.
best way to find out is to take him to the vet he could help you.
if your thinking of breeding him just know if he doesn't have certification and is registered as a pure breed then the best thing to do is to spay him.

It is most likely a mixed breed if you did not buy it from a breeder.
But you never know, it could be a purebreed so take it to the vet to find out (but even they may not know)
You can't really tell what breed a cat is just by knowing its color though.

Look on Yahoo Pets at the pictures of the different cat breeds, and you should be able to pick one out that closely resembles yours.
