My dad is paying for the reception, so he thinks it's okay for him to show a slide show with just pictures of me and nothing about my fiancé. I want to know if it would look bad, since the wedding is about both my fiancé AND myself.

Speaking as someone who wasn't exactly welcomed into the family by the new in-laws...your dad should know that this isn't just your wedding. And he has to think about the feelings of everyone there. The whole idea of the wedding is that two people are coming together, not just that one person is getting married.

I would tell your dad how hurt your fiance would be and how awkward it would be for everyone on his side to watch a slide show of you and then see nothing of their son/nephew/good friend. I think it would look really bad.

But you know, this probably isn't about the slide show so much as something deeper. Maybe your dad is feeling like he doesn't want to let go of you. A lot of parents get that way, where they start feeling like no one is good enough for their little baby and it makes them act kind of hostile towards the fiance. I'm not sure that is the case, but a little extra time and love for your dad might go a long way towards changing his mind. Good luck!

That is very nice and thoughtful that he would like to do a slide show at your wedding. I wish if my parents were that sentimental. However maybe you can suggest to the Grooms parents to do the same thing or ask dad to throw a couple of pictures with your husband. Good idea dad

That would be really tacky. Print out this question and show the answers to your dad. A wedding isn't just about the bride and it would be really rude to do a slide show just about you. It would probably really offend his parents as well, not a good way to start a marriage.

well...I think it could work and not work ya know? Well that part of the ceremony could be known as the part when your father proves to everyone that his little girl is all grown up and getting married so it could kind of be an example kinda thing, now in the other way he would take it overboard if he tried to make the whole situation just about you, that your wedding day is just for you not your husband!

That just wouldn't look right.... maybe if it was your baby shower or something. Does your dad not like your fiance? It would seem extremely conceited, the day is about both of you coming together as one for the rest of your lives.

Tell him it is sweet, but it will most likely upset the groom's family and friends. It would be really kind to include some pictures of the groom.

I guess your dad is very proud and adoring of you...but I would think that seems weird. Tell pops to save the glamor shots for your birthday party.

It would not be a good idea. It is both of your days. You should have your father include. Doesnt your father like him is that why he is not including him and does not want him to be part of the fa,ily..

I think it's a nice idea but he should include something about your fiance. But it's ultimately your wedding so do what you want!

it's not YOUR wedding alone. there are 2 parties involved. if you dont want the slideshow to be of just you, tell him. or ask your fiancee for pics from his childhood and growing up and stuff to mix in with yours
