instead of brainwashing poor uneducated young muslims to become suicide bombers why wont the leaders of these muslim terror groups send members of their own families to die in the name of Allah?

First of all, I seriously doubt that a publicly visible Muslim leader is brainwashing anyone... too easy to get caught because you're under too much scrutiny. That doesn't mean that some of them might not know some of the fanatics that are doing the brainwashing, but let's just be clear about who is the culprit here.
But to answer your question, when has any "military" action (and I use the word "military" here to mean "act of agression for political purposes") included the children of the leaders and the wealthy? During the Vietnam "conflict", the Korean "military action", all the way up to the Iraq war today, American congressmen have gone out of their way to keep their children from harm. It's the same everywhere.
Yeah, a handfull of the children may be dedicated (or stubborn) enough to go against their family wishes, but for the most part, the leadership "leads", not "fights". At least in their eyes.

They (meaning terrorists, not regular Muslim leaders) do. Middle Eastern society is made up of tribes and extended families. Terror groups are usually made up by members of the same tribe or family, so leaders will send their own family members to suicide bomb places.
Unfortunately, they don't understand that you cannot martyr yourself. Suicide is a mortal sin in Islam.
