First you need to find out if you are a candidate for LASIK. Visit an ophthalmologist for a complimentary screening.

As for the procedure, numbing drops are used. Then an instrument called a microkeratome will be used to produce a flap of your cornea. The doctor then will proceed to use the laser to correct your vision. After that, the corneal flap is replaced, smoothed out, and you should be able to see.

Not dangerous in the hands of a good surgeon.

Side effects? You may have haze, glare, see shadows. Depending on your prescription before surgery, you may still have to wear eyeglasses, but not as thick.

Hope that answers your question.

Nearsightedness (Myopic) people seem to have better results from Lasik. As advised, read all about it on the Internet. I had it done in October and am extremely pleased. It was a simple procedure that didn't hurt at all. I wish it had been available when I was younger and prettier, but I'm enjoying it now. I can drive, walk in the rain, garden, etc., all without glasses. Yeah! And, it cost less than all those years of expensive glasses and sunglasses!

they remove a thin layer from your eye, shoot a laser at your retina, and replace the layer onto the eye. long term side effects arent known. theres also a procedure where they implant a contact onto your eye permanently.
