I conducted a social experiment recently on a group of Christians to determine what effect belief has on the mind and how it affects one's outlook on the world around them. The results were shocking:

- They tend to ignore common sense whenever it contradicts holy scripture, no matter how absurd the scripture is.
- They ferociously try to force other people to accept their way of thinking despite the fact that no one may want to hear what they have to say.
- They are generally incapible of independent thought.
- They are unable to realize that they are exhibiting any of the above charactoristics.

What do you think of the results?

Accurately summarizes the majority of theists. (Particularly those who frequent this board).

I'm always fascinated by people who like to generalize a group of people.
First, true common sense always, and I mean alway goes with scripture.
Second, a TRUE christian will never FORCE their "way of thinking" on someone.
Third, my ability of independent thought is why I am who I am. I've seen my faith grow over the past ten years and it's made me much more independent then I ever thought it would. You may be thinking how? It's simple, I follow a simple CLICHE, "What would Jesus Do?" As corny as that sounds but it's true. I'm more open minded then I've ever been and it allows me to display God's love to as many people as possible.
And Finally, I have to realize all of your above points. I've been a victim of it. Denominational beliefs is one of our many problems but I also realize, nothing and no one is perfect.
Thank you for allowing me to participate in your social experiment.
In Christ I live, serve and deeply LOVE
Scott

I think your answers are narrow minded and do not characterize what real CHRISTIANITY is. You probably asked a bunch of cultic followers not true Christians.
As a true Christian I believe the Bible to be the written word of God. I NEVER force anyone to my beliefs, I will speak my opinion however if someone doesn't want to hear what I have to say they can leave, tell me to shut up or ignore it CHOICES they make. I am however most appalled by the INCAPABLE OF INDEPENDENT THOUGHT! Where did that come from?? I would love to see your research data, maybe the research came out that way because YOU coached it to be that? HMMMM maybe you want to be controversial in your posting,, HMMMM again, Not really sure but I would suggest if you want to really know about Christians, ask real Christians, find out what they base their I'M A CHRISTIAN statement on .. a true Christian does not have to be a radical believer...

First point .... The answer is faith. We have been touched by something supernatural and have been confirmed a million times in our faith... At least mature Chrisians. It is in the bible that our assignment in life is to spread truth. Next, We gave our lives to Christ/ The bible. Independant thought in this case will get you no where. We totally get that those are our charachteristics and are not the least bit ashamed that we are devout.. I was saved when I was 18. My life was awesome before. I was gorgeous, smart hung with the best crowds in my happining city..... I didnt need anything and it found me. It is the best thing ever....... I know what it is like to be on your side and totally get why you feel the way you do.. Keep searching , I commend you research a lot of people just let life pass them by with no thought.......

I'd be quite interested in seeing what exactly your methodology for this experiment was. Come on, show what group you performed this experiment on, how many people? What exactly is your measure for how absurd a scripture is? show your math.

Any good scientist knows results can't be peer examined without full disclosure of methods.

i believe that when you went into to this experiment you did not go in impartially and you were biased already. you went in EXPECTING something and thats the only thing you BLINDLY concluded with. I think its pretty easy to just go and state your opinion on a social experiment like that. So if what you wanted was for people to see what YOU THOUGHT. good job. you succeded.

I tend to see a difference between Hans Küng and Fred Phelps. Perhaps your research is flawed.

I think you deserve a Noble Peace prize. I've encountered this type of being before, but before it could brainwash me I promptly roundhouse kicked it in the face.

Produce your method and your control. With out those your "results" are meaningless.More like your personal opinion.
