Go with names that fit with your last name. Say them over and over many times to make sure they flow well.
Make sure that the name isn't something cutesy that will be made fun of by other kids. Example Wendy Dawn = Windy dawn.
Think about what the nicknames could be. If you choose Robert, do you like Robby, Bobby, Rob & Bob?
Try to stay away from "trendy" names. They just sound funny later in life. Make sure that its a name that will work well on a future business card. Any name that you chose should be one that the mother and father both like. Is there a character in a book or movie that you both loved? Will it be a name that the child can feel comfortable with?
If you are into numerology, then do the numbers on your choices.
You can also look up the meaning of the name. Do you like that too?
It can be important for the child later to have a name that is definitely for the proper sex. I knew a girl named Randy and people were always asking for Mr Randy *** She hated it. I also knew a boy named Bobby, not a nickname. It was cute when he was little but as an adult it worked against him in the business world.
So give any name you choose a lot of thought. It will help your child later if you do.
My favorite names (for the record) are Amanda and Ryan, but then I'm Irish so it fits.
Have fun naming your baby! It is an amazing experience to have a child and naming it should be just as amazing.
