how do i convince my dad to get a dog...?

when he likes to travel a lot and thinks its a burden? he wont even let me get a small one! what do i do?!

It is a BIG responsibility to own a dog. They need a good shelter if they aren't going to stay in your house. Food and water every day. They need to have shots, be dipped for fleas, wormed, etc... And another big thing is lots of love and attention. IF you can convince your Dad you'll be willing to help with some of the costs and the responsibility of taking care of the dog maybe he'll reconsider. Good Luck.

My dad was like that growing up and finally one year my mom talked him into getting a little dog. Hmmmm the dog became HIS dog! My big macho dad loved that little dog sooo much! Cried when she died. He may have had a pet growing up that died and he misses it alot and doesnt want to get close to another animal. How old are you? You could reassure him that YOU will feed him- you will take him to potty and you will be his substitute mommy! Show him you are ready for the responsibility! If you dont do good in the first month or so he can get rid of the dog. But he wont- cuz he will like it by then-even if he wont admit it. Good luck

Tell him you want the responsibility of taking care of a small dog. The smaller the dog the easier it would be to take care of it. Write out a small report for him, on what breed you want, how you can take care of it, and how much it might cost a year for the dog. If you present it to him in a professional way, he might be impressed enough of your work, and how far you're willing to go.

Go buy him a puppy and take it to him and tell him that you need him to keep it for a while till you can find it a home for the dog. Hopefully he will get attached and you will have a dog. That is what my family did to me and I have a Chihuahua and she is the love of my life. I also think that a Chihuahua makes a good companion.

i am 9 amd i wanted a dog for my birthday the way i did it was i kept on asking i want a dog i want a dog!!! then for my 9 th b-day i got a dog but...... if you have a baby brother or sister or other small pets that is y he might not want you to get a dogi had a dog then i got a hamster then i had to give away my dog:(

Tell your dad that people who have had pets as children tend to grow up to be more compassionate and caring adults.

Taking care of a dog will teach you responsibility, as well as, kindness and gentleness.

Besides most hotels and resorts welcome dogs as members of your family so it shouldn't be a problem for travel.

make a list of all the thing a dog would benefit you and tell them to him
stuff like keep you out of drugs and someone to talk too when you are alone and other stuff like that.

if you do get one try to get one from a pound/shelter. they are just as loving!
