Yes. Travelled throughout Thailand, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samet, Pattaya, Chiang Rai, Koh Phi Phi, and Koh Tao. I've never been to Laos but have many friends who travelled throughout Laos. Vientienne is apparantly grogeous and the mountainous regions are spectacular (I've seen the pictures!) I actually travelled to Angkor Wat in Cambodia which is still to this day the most incredible place I have ever been to and I'd say as close to Nirvana as I will ever get. If you're making it to Thailand it really depends on where your interests lie. If you're into city life and more wats than you can shake a stick at spend some time in Bangkok. Chiang Mai is cozier than Bangkok and has some amazing points of interest. The zoo there is worth checking out as is the night market, and the famous Wats but you won't need more than 2 or 3 days to cheak it all out. Chiang Rai is very beautiful and is great if you're into national parks, trekking, waterfalls, elephant riding, etc. Khao Yai is also an incredible Nat'l park with a great deal of wildlife and waterfalls. If you're interested in snorkelling and or diving the Similan Islands and Nat'l marine park on the Western Coast has some of the best diving and snorkelling in Southeast Asia, as does the Koh Chang Marine Park in the Gulf of Thailand. If you have time visit the Sukkothai Historical park and the Ayutthaya Historical park. The Kanchanburi province is also amazing with the bridge on the River Kwai, the death railway, hiking trails, and a number of floating guesthouses on the river. Have an amazing trip if you do go!

I visited both of them. I think Thailand it's more beautiful than Laos. Especially in the South of Thailnd like Phukey and Phi Phi.
Moreover, you can enjoy the delicious foods in Thailand. The famous foods are Tom Yum Kung, Pad Thai.

Yeah. Live in Thailand now and have been to Laos. Laos is great if you like peace and quiet and don't mind foregoing little luxuries like power and toilets (that's worst case of course) It's a beautiful place. French influence means the food is great and there are a bunch of old colonial style hotels to choose from. Getting around can be uncomfortable and dangerous. Truck bus is slow and awful. Lao aviation is notoriously rinky- dink. Boat along the Mekong is cool. Great views and not expensive. Bicycle from Thailand is great if you have legs. Bring your own bike though. Motorbikes can't be taken in from Thailand (they say they don't want tourists strewn around the country in bits after they stack their bikes on the terrible roads) and you can't rent one in Vientiane either. (or couldn't last time I looked) Luang Prabang (old capital) is a very special place. Bit like Bali- it has a very serene vibe, although the backpacker- restaurant- look- at -me-crowd is raising the population and prices. Vientiane is interesting, if a little seedy. Have fun

Laos is quiet but very nice. It's the second friendly south east asian country after thailand. (Cambodia and Vietnam suck, people are too money hungry and agressive)

Yes...Thailand. Great in the south and great in the north. In south, (for example, Phuket, Pataya), beautiful beaches, islands, resorts, and fantastic nightlife. In the north, beautiful ancient cities like Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai), rivers, rafting, elephants tribal people. And everywhere, beautiful Buddist temples and really nice, friendly people.
