It depends on the vet. I would wait. Get her the little diaper pads at the PetSmart and hold off. And then after she's finished take her in for a consult.

Yes she can be spayed while in heat, it is better to do it before her heat progresses further. Now, some vets will not do it because they consider it riskier than when they are not in heat, and some vets will charge a little more since it is a little more complicated. A friend of mine had hers done while it was in heat and she is just fine.

If it is near physically the same scenario as having a cat fixed (which it is probably close enough)... You can get her fixed now but it is a bit more risky (health wise) and may(will) cost more. I dont know how long she's been in heat but it usually lasts a few weeks, so if you can stand her craziness and possibly bleeding...I would wait.

it depends on the vet. my vet spayed my jack russell when she was in heat,but they did charge an extra fee.

Pretty sure you need to wait a week, so the tissues are not inflamed.
Call your vet and make the appointment now, then you're all set.
