Are you ever concerned that fellow Christians can be so hateful and rude when preaching their beliefs that as a group Christains will turn more people away from Christianity than draw people to Christianity?

Yeah, I have to admit that I do worry about that sometimes. Christians are supposed to emulate Jesus, but they forget that sometimes. How will people be persuaded to our faith if we are no different or even worse than them?

I see it, I have experienced it. I have been passed up in a snowbank waiting for my good Samaritan to help me out on their way to the church that I could see! These Christians in their Sunday best, afraid dirty their clothes, or actually, "be late for church" to help a little 90 pound teenage momma and baby out. I was seldom so disgusted. Its not just that they can be so hateful and rude, It is that they can be so BLIND about it. It is mistaken as doing the right and christian thing, but it is not, and no one sees it! For example, most churches have a food pantry. Is it full? Why is it full? Does anyone use it? Would you really eat what is in there?
I know your church isn't one of the ones like this, so please spare me the hate mail. I am answering that it is a huge turnoff the way that over zealous Christians act.

Christ said, wether they preach my name through envy and strife or through love, they are still preaching my name.

I honestly believe that how we act and speak is a reflection of who and what we are.

Some people are 'religious fanatics' who only support God as an obsession. Some are truly zealous and get 'worked up' when they get excited, and some are just pretenders, being rude out of their own selfish desire to give God's people a bad name.

Not all christians are rude. As some have said here, it is Christ in that makes you a cristian, it is how you act that shows you are one. It is how you talk that helps others to understand what you live, and it is how you listen that determines how useful you will be in answering their doubts.

It's already here. Rev. Phelps is an example. I believe that good will always out weigh the bad. God is separating the sheeps from the goats not just in the world but in the churches. The label Christianity will become extinct but true believers will rise above it! God bless.

In a word, yes. I don't like the heavy handed approach to evangelization, and too often instead of opening a dialog and sharing beliefs, I see fellow Christians (and other groups, too) resorting to close-minded "my way or the highway and I'm not listening to you so nyah nyah nyah" attitudes. Somehow, I do NOT think that that's what Jesus would do.

people who don't want to listen won't. There is no point in preaching to these people. once a defensive wall is put up, nobody cares what each other has to say. It turns into a big argument. we can try to influence others but if they don't listen we have to do what Jesus told us in Matt. 10:14.

Absolutely! I attended church for 40 years and even played the piano there for about 25 of them.

I love God, but finally got to the point where I just hate church people.

Yes. Christian means follower of Christ and the behavior displayed by some claiming to be Christian I know Jesus would never show.

I will tell you- I am a Christian and I am a member at my church- But... I do hate for someone from another church to come to my door and try to save me like I am not already a Christian. Yes, it does bother me- But the J.W's do it and I have a lot more of them come to my door then the Baptist trying to save my soul that is already saved.

Oh- there goes my mouth again- Please forgive me.
