He didn't come out and ask for it, but he talked about a specific amount to fix his car. I don't doubt he actually needs the money. But he lives in the states and I live overseas. We will be apart for another year. We have know each other for 8 months.

Do NOT give him the money...unless it says ATM on your forehead.

You're not living together...you're not engaged....you're not married. He's a big boy...let him work out his own financial issues. Unless you want to BE his ATM and his MOMMY.

If you are foolish enough to loan him money...make it a LOAN. Complete with legal document, signature and schedule for repayment, and interest...if any.

Unless he says "can you lend me X amount of dollars" and i will pay you back by a certain date... Dont do it!!! This is how people end up getting screwed over... tell him I can lend you $100 or something now.. and if you never get it back, oh well its only $100 but if he is asking for a significant amount of money that you may need yourself in the near future tell him, I'm sorry i would help if I could but I really cant afford much right now. If he has no money in his savings set aside for emergencies, and you do, then I think this should be a red flag to you RIGHT NOW!!!! I'm just warning you because I myself have missed warning signs and been taken advantage of financially. And dont think < oh hes different, because if hes broke- Hes not any different!!! Good luck with him!

If I was in your situation and I actually loved this guy, I would give him the money if I had it. But I wouldnt do it on a regular basis. Especially since you live so far apart. Dont let him get used to hitting you up for cash
