Make sure you have a regular job to pay for all the other spendings in excess to the rent - then everything should be fine.
You'd better ask someone with some experience to make a budget with you to get through.

I think its a great idea for you to live on your own with a roommate. I believe that you will learn how to buckle down on spending money by having some real responsibilities. I say enjoy your time at college, and take your mother on the wonderful opportunity that she is offering you. You are at the point where you can make your own decisions. I can see your father's point, however, what is really going to be the difference a year from now? I am sure you will find an excuse to spend your money on stupid stuff. Maybe you need a little freedom from the 'rents. I say go for it. If the apartment situation does not work out, and as long as you do not sign a lease, you really can leave at any point you would like. Go for it!! And good luck with school, I am sure you will do great!

I think you should give it a try. It is very difficult when you live on your own (or with roommates) it comes along with many responsibilities, but do you know how many people do it? well, if they all can, why can't you?
You can ask your mom to help you find a good roommate(s) and since your mom will help you with half the rent she'll make it easier.
Just make sure you talk to your new roommate(s) before you start living together and make very clear the responsibilities you all will have and all the rules you all agree for the new home (such as schedules, parties, bathroom, etc)

She is 18, and can legally do what she wants. I have to question if it is the right move. How old is this guy? Why the rush to move in with him? Have you discussed birth control? Those are the real questions. I have seen many people rush into something like this during high school and end up screwing up their lives. The best advice I would give is to think about the long-term implications of such a move.

Dont get an apartment yet!!! try to gain some responsibility while living with your dad, and then after at least six months. I work as an apartment manager and I see so many young people mess up thier credit when they are young and it makes their lives so much harder in the long run.

If you have considered all of the options and all of the problems you could run into, then, yes it is probably not a bad idea. If it really turns out to be a bad thing for you, I'll bet your Dad would let you "come home".

How do you feel about it? Will you be able to pay for additional expenses? It sounds like a decent deal, especially for a college student.

You will be much happier on your own. Don't put yourself into an unhappy situation...unless you are one of those people who are seldom at home...then it won't matter as much and you could save some money.
