How could you have failed your son? Just because he wants to have a strong bond with his father?

I think you should see it for what it is. He's not doing it to hurt you.

Of course you are going to miss him terribly-think of how his dad feels when your son is with you.

Please don't try and make your son feel guilty for wanting a relationship with his dad.

This exact situation happened in my family. I left for college and my younger brother moved out to be with his dad. Honestly, it was good for him. He needed his dad the most throughout high school to be able to do guy things and help him grow into a man. Us females were too much for him with what he was going through. He stayed there all through high school and it was rough but now that he is over that stage him and my mom are rebuilding their relationship on a more adult level. Be supportive of his decision, he didn't do it to hurt you, he did it to help himself.

Know that you have done your best and no matter what YOU ARE HIS MOTHER! no one can take that relationship away from you. Don't be insecure, just be the best mom you can be is all a child can ask for.

Let him go. He does need to have a relationship with his father. Don't be angry if he decides to stay. He's getting older. Good Luck!
