Why is there a cardinal bird banging my window many times a day. When I go to the window he/she leaves?

This have been going on for months. Is it trying to communicate.

The Cardinal is seeing it's reflection in the window. It thinks it is seeing another bird and it is trying to scare it off. Try putting something directly on the window to make it stop. Drapes or blinds will not work because the reflection is still there.

It thinks it's another bird. Let me guess- it's probably a male, right? They are very territorial. The male is all bright red, while the female is brown with a red beak. Both are beautiful birds.

Try hanging a potted plant outside in front of the window. If it can't see its reflection, it will stop pecking the window.

Likely, the bird sees its reflection in the window and might be territorial. When you walk past the window, this changes the reflection, startling the stupid bird away. :)
