That is a very good question. I believe it scares people to think that there might be a judgment day and hell awaiting them. So I guess our jobs is just to be here waiting for the sincere ones that really want to know how to steer clear from there. Jesus loves you.

If a person claims that they are devout (in whatever religion)and use it as an excuse to assert their will on others, then it stands to people who disagree to stand up and confront them (on an intellectual level). Why do Christians spend so much time and energy trying to prove Evolution false? "If you don't believe in it, then why worry about it," right?
If a Christian is certain of their beliefs, then why do they so vehemently object to the opinions of others? Why do Christians lobby so hard to not only deny Evolution, geology, and history, but to exclude these rational, scientific programs from the American educational system?
I personally do not agree with everything which is accepted as "History," but I also do not rally to have these topic specifically, or History classes in general banned from schools.
I don't spend much time trying to convince Christians that there is no God. But I do spend the time to point out when Christians are spending time trying to convince others not to think for themselves.
I have no concerns about religion. If I'm wrong about it, and there is a God and such, I'm just gonna have to after-live with that.

The only people I know who take that much time with it are those who are sick of Christians who think this country is a theocracy. This is indeed something to worry about. I know I've been annoyed by Christians on message boards who assume I am an atheist (I am not one) because I believe in separation of church and state. I never fight with the Great Architect, what a silly notion. But, I will fight against those who think I must believe as they do.

First of all, those who don't believe in a god or gods don't waste any time fighting with purely imaginary characters.
Second, they also don't waste any time feeling guilty about not serving any purely imaginary character.
Third, if you heard people spreading lies about your friends or relations, wouldn't you try to stop it? Just read some of the crap that's posted here about atheists, agnostics, and sceptics of all kinds. Would you shut up and let it go by?
I won't.

At one time, they said it's not about GOD, now the atheists are saying people are spreading lies about them. They are a very confused little group of people. They are fighting against GOD no matter how they slice and dice. They are weak and don't want to live moral lives. Jesus said that Christians will be persecuted for righteousness. Also Jesus said they don't hate us but him! We must continue to pray for them and stay focus and BE encourage! God bless.
Shalom

Because the Christians are constantly attacking those that do share their beliefs. They want to change evey public institution into a Christian institution, they want to convert me and my family into unthinking zombies just like themselves, they want to impose their prayers onto everyone without regard as to whether or not others find it offensive. They behave in totally obnoxious and unacceptable ways regarding their religion, and feel completely justified in doing so because their leaders tell them that this is the right thing to do. They are absolutely convinced, without any evidence in their favor, that they, and they alone posess the truth about any given situation. They are very very dangerous individuals that cannot be trusted in matters of culture and taste. It's their way or no way.
You take your basic fundamentalist Christian and put him or her in a situation where a question of honesty or ethics is at hand, and they will do the right thing. It is part and parcel of their Christian belief system. Put that same individual into a situation where they are complelled to pass judgment on a question of, say, homo vs hetero sexuality, or better still, Buddhist philosophy vs Christain dogma. In both cases, they will never take into account the right vs wrong, or even the harmful vs benign considerations. In either one of those cases, they will stand by Christian dogma without regard for the harm that that stance may take, and then pat themselves on the back and delude themselves into thinking that Jesus loves them for being that way. Such individuals that have been brainwashed into setting aside independent and unbiased thought in favor of a discredited dogma are very dangerous individuals indeed, particularly if they ascend to a position of power. No thinking individual wants a nut case that thinks evolution is malarkey, and the Bible's creation myth is correct teaching their children science. No individual who has a genuine desire for world peace, and regard for his fellow humans would ever allow a fundalmentalist to hold a position where they have the the power make decisions about any aspect of the existance of someone of another faith.
We have three choices before us. Do we tolerate their bigotry , ignorance and hate? Or do we lock them away where they can do no harm? Or, do we try , as people of good will, to gently, but firmly show them the folly of their beliefs and make them aware of the harm they do when they practice those beliefs?
The choice is clear. They are not inherantly evil, and deserve to live, but they also need to acknowledge that they share the earth with those that do not necessarily share their beliefs. It is okay to live by your own code of conduct in matters of culture. It is NOT okay to impose your code of conduct on others, and those that do not share your narrow, bigoted and ignorant views are not evil or wrong, just different, and different is okay.
That is why we point out the inherant contradictions in their beliefs and conduct.........to save the rest of us from their petty short sighted tyranny.

I know how you're feeling. My mother's a bhuddist and I don't believe in Bhudda or God but I believe in the teachings of Bhudda and God. I mean, karma inspires us all, doesn't it?
So if I don't believe that there's a god, let it be, this is my opinion.

Wow, I've finally reached my limit! I'm really tired of all the bitching back and forth. It's time for a vaca from this group. I'm getting really jaded and disillusioned about the human race. Ugh!

Maybe they are doing what they accuse Christains of doing...trying to brainwash people, except in their case it's NOT to believe in God.
