What kind of Identification will I need to fly from California to Mexico? My wallet was stolen with my license in it. Ive already reordered one from the DMV but it will take 2 to 4 weeks and my flight leaves next week. I have an expired passport and other types of ID (birth certificate, SS card) but no drivers license. Ive already paid alot for the trip and would hate to not be able to go because of this. Does anyone have any advice or answers?

Thanks.

FYI--You do not need a valid passport to go into Mexico until 2007.

You will need your birth certificate, and a current photo ID. WHy can't you just go to DMV and get a replacement on the spot?

You can check what other photo ID would work ... but it has to be official (drivers licence, non-drivers ID, passport, military ID, student ID in some cases).

While you will need it to get in to mexico, my experience is that you need it more to get back in to the US without a huge hassle.

Good luck.

The documentation you'll need will vary depending on your destination.

Within the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico
Select from the following:

One unexpired form of local or federal government-issued photo id, such as:
Passport
Driver's License
Military ID
Or two unexpired forms of non-photo id—one must be issued by a state or federal agency.
Outside the United States
Visit Visa & Passport Information to determine which documents you'll need to enter your destination country.

MEXICO - *Passport, or proof of citizenship (such as original birth certificate or naturalization certificate) and photo ID. Tourist card is required. Tourist card valid 3 months for single entry up to 180 days, $20 fee, requires proof of U.S. citizenship, photo ID, and proof of sufficient funds. Visa not required of U.S. citizens for tourist/transit stay of up to 30 days. Obtain tourist cards in advance from Consulate, Tourism Office, and most airlines serving Mexico upon arrival. Go to the DMV in person and request an ID card.. They probably charge you 10 to 15 dollars for it. It works as a form of Identification. Have a safe trip..

You will need a passport from California to Mexico. An ID is not acceptable by itself due to going into another country.

No. It should be a authorities issued (state or federal) image identity. colleges do not count number. little ones vacationing with adults on kin flights ought to not want a image identity card; notwithstanding, airways will require the accompanying grownup to exhibit evidence of age in the fashion of a start certificate. You’ll opt to envision with the airline on that you’ve booked shuttle for his or her particular regulations related to toddler id. little ones, even toddlers, vacationing the international over will be difficulty to an same documentation criteria as adults, meaning a passport. once you're less than 18 and vacationing on my own locally and also you do not have a drivers license, you'll want a state identity card

You will HAVE to have a State issued ID with a photo, AND a PASSPORT that is not expired. You will need a certified copy of your birth Cert, too.
I hate to tell you this! It sounds like you need to reschedule, because they will turn you away.

I suggest that you get to the Passport Office and get a new one as soon as possible or else you will find you will not be allowed to board without up-to-date photographic identification.......
