There is no such thing as selfless. Even if all you get out of the deal is satisfaction at having done a benevolent thing, you still did it for that satisfaction. I think that makes those kinds of acts more beautiful, doing the "right" thing because it makes you feel good to do the "right" thing. That being said I am self centered.

When I reflect on my thoughts in any given day I tend to be self-centered, thinking about what I need and the demands on me. However, I am learning to be self less. For example, my life is in major transition right now and this transition affects everyone in my life. Because of the pressure I feel I spend alot of time processing my thoughts and emotions; not really acknowledging that the people in my life have their own process too. However, because I do want balance in my life and don't want to be a burden on those who love me (especially my family) I realize I have to put a lid on the demand that others understand what I am going through and seek to understand those around me. I have a duty to love and respect others as I want to be loved and respected.

I'm actually trying to learn to be a little more self-centered in a way because i've always been a little "masochistic" in letting people run over me,and everything, so i'm trying to respect myself more. But,at the same time, i spoil the hell out of my little sister and my boyfriend, when neither has the money to do the same for me. So, i guess it basically depends on the people and the situation.

I'm aiming to be self-less. But most of my actions are self-centered because I'm a human being trying to be good for others but when the going gets tough I tend to be good to myself first.

Self-centered. I don't know why; I just am.

everyone has selfish motives behind most of the things that they do. I am not sure that self-less acts exsist. I like to help people, so when I do it is satisfying something in me, therefore not selfless.

Compared to what?

Other people? I'm somewhere in the middle. I care more about my family as a whole than just myself, but still them over other people.

Than I was a few years ago, probably neither. I have always had some people I cared about more than myself.

Define "self-less"??

I guess I'm more celf-centred (but not in a bad way). I know who I am and I'm not going to let anybody tell me differently.
