When is the best time to get your cardio exercise in? My options are really either 5am or 5pm. I've read some opinions that it is best and your burn more calories and spike your metabolism by exercising first thing in the morning. Then I've heard by exercising in the morning you short change yourself energy wise because there is little energy available for use in the morning and you dip into your energy supply. Which one is correct? I'd like some knowledgable feedback on this matter. Thanks.

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

Some say in the morning because you stomach is empty and that is the most efficient time for calorie burning. Then on the other hand some say that in the evening is better because you have more energy to workout to your full potential. I personally prefer the morning because it jump starts my day and I have energy all day long.

The mornings are best, but you've got to eat no later than 1/2 after the exercises. Try the body for life book by bill phillips.

I exercise whenever the feeling hits me. If I had my way, I would exercise in the mornings because I start my day off feeling pumped and have a sense of accomplishment early in the day. I actually feel more energized after a good morning workout. But I wouldn't want to totally give up my evening work outs. They give me a chance to unwind after a busy day. As long as you keep it moving, you're good!

Again I agree with Godsrainbow..except with one thing not mentioned.

There is good documentation that physical exertion in with in 3 hrs of waking up is dangerous to your spine and also increases you risk of injury to other areas.

Reason being that when you sleep, fluid collects in your spinal column to "buffer" the discs pressure put on and to allow for repair (scientist are "exactly" sure just why it collects fluid)

But doing anything while they are not fitted together as they should could lead to injury.

Before cardio (anything really) you need to stretch and get warmed up so..fast walk for 10 min..then jog.

Like gods said. Key is consistancy, make a plan and stick with it.

Studies have also shown that people with a workout partner are 70% more likely to reach their fitness goals.

I've read morning is best since it gets your metabolism up for the day and helps you burn more calories all day.

I really think it depends on when you can function personally. I am a morning person and can exercise in the am never in the pm - I have no energy or motivation.
