this will sound weird but I have often thought that we trascend to another plane of existence, a different "place" than here. we're in physical form; we can touch, be touched and still function as we normally would, just in an environment nowhere near as hostile as it is here. kind of like another universe. there are no jobs, no cell phones, nothing even remotely modern. we simply exist as if we were tansplanted back into the olden times. there we think, clear of mind and free of the worries and stresses we have here and exist truly in peace. reflect on our previous lives and think of our loved ones still "over here"

Life becomes far more enjoyable if you accept the inevitability of death. If you have faith in a hereafter, so be it, but provided you have led a good life, there is nothing to worry about. I have written a poem to my wife which she will not see until after I am gone. I think it is something everyone should do, not necessarily a poem, but a letter.............. read on:

Tempus Fugit.

Tempus Fugit - or as you know - Time Flies,
Just ten minutes more, to say ones goodbyes.
To say all those things, not said in ones life,
But now ‘tis too late, when ones on that last flight.

To have told those you loved, how much you did love,
To ask for forgiveness from Him up above.
To have paid back those favours, ones had in ones years,
To have told those behind, not to shed any tears.

For mine was a good life, a happy one too,
And who do I thank, no one else only you.
You gave me your all, the best years of your life,
You gave me our children, I thank you - my wife.

To those who have liked me, I thank you my friends,
To those who did not, no time for amends,
So think of me kindly, just once in a while,
And whenever you do, do it with a smile.

So goodbye one and all, I wish you farewell,
‘Till we meet again, be it Heaven or Hell,
The game it is over, the last round has been played,
My final engagement – that the piper be paid.

Almost everyone thinks about this at one time or another. The way in which we think about it largely has to do with our upbringing and culture. For example, I was brought up as a Socialist/atheist. I may have different ideas than a person who was brought up as a religious person. Even if, as an adult, you no longer practice the religion of your parents, some people find comfort in various spiritual philosophies many of which choose to believe that the spirit, or soul of a person lives on after their body dies.
Despite what anyone may say, there is virtually no evidence of reincarnation or of heaven or of hell.

When you die thats it. You dont think. you dont see the people from above. You dont burn in hell. You just get eaten by worms and you wont feel a thing.

Does one believe that you continue thinking but on a different plain of existence?

What would be the "new reality"?

I think I simply cease to be. I think the world will go on without me quite well.
