I have a 5 year old son and a 3 1/2 year old daughter. We took them to see Cars on opening day. They both thought it was funny. There's only one way we can tell if our kids liked the movie and it's if at the end they asked to get it on DVD (which is what they did). Have you taken your kids to the movies before? I would go based on how they reacted the last time. If they sat still they try it again. If they didn't sit through the last movie, try getting them their own snack tray if your theaters have them. Ours have them and it contains some popcorn, drink, and candy in a neat little carrying tray.
Good luck and if they talk during the movie, who cares what the other people think. Everyone at the theatre will either be going through the same ordeal or they all ready have and will understand.
I do suggest trying to make it to a matinee showing. Sometimes when it's not so crowded kids concentrate more. Good luck and I hope they like it.

We have a new foster son who will be 3 in November. We took him to see Cars 3 weeks ago and he did GREAT!
It is a cute movie, all the other kids in the theater seemed to enjoy it. It shows a small pre movie that combined with the previews and all made the movie total about 3 hrs. Andrew did not start getting restless until 2 1/2 hrs into it, but was still quite entertained and manageable. Hope you enjoy it!

I took my 5 year old son and my 3 year old daughter. They both really enjoyed it. It has quite a few funny scenes in it for both the kids and parents. If they seem to not get some parts just explain it to them and meake it funny. Plus stop at Wal-Mart and get them in the mood by buying them each a Cars car before you go. That will make it even more special for them because then they have a piece of the movie in their little hands. But as usual taking young kids is always an adventure. So go see it and enjoy it. Good luck.

Well, a whole lot of parents took toddlers to the showing I was at!
My kid is 11 but I can tell you that the attention span of the littler children only made it about 40 minutes before they were squirming and had lost interest.
The film is just great but the ages of your kids doesn't allow them to focus on one thing for the length of time needed to sit through a movie. Wait til it comes out on video and show them then

My almost 4 year old son was mesmerized. It was the first time I had actually taken him to a movie that he actually sat through. But I will tell you that I saw a couple of parents with younger kids (maybe 2) that left because their child lost interest.

My son is 4 and we saw cars. He loved it. He saw Shrek 2 when he was 3 and was mesmerized, so your little ones will probably do alright. But there was a 1-year-old at the showing of Cars who just kept crying, so maybe that's too young.

My daughter is almost two years old. She absolutely loved the movie. Now she is fascinated by all cars. Not just the ones in the movie. I enjoyed it as well. Of course it has a stupid love story in it. Can't movies be without love stories at least just once? Oh well, it is really cute though. I think that they will thoroughly enjoy it.

My 3 year old son loved the movie and memorized all the character names before it was over. He has since become enamored with Sally and Lightening McQueen! If your kids have any interest in cars, trucks, etc. their interest in knowing more about them will grow after watching this movie.
Also, be prepared to spend a few dollars on toys, lunchboxes, etc.
