It all depends on whether they're manipulative or not. If they are, then I'd be suspicious that this was an attempt to get me back into their life. In which case, I'd be there for them in the sense that I'd suggest where they could find help. Same thing if we broke up because I couldn't handle their depression. If they refused to get help, then there's really nothing I can do for them since I'm not a professional.
If it's just a passing thing for them and we're still on good terms then, yes, I'd be supportive of them, but not full time. Again, I'd encourage them to get help outside our relationship.

Yes, even though you may have broken up, it is good to still remain friends, as long as you and your ex can make sure it goes no further, as well, it was almost a lost life, so this person will need someone to talk to, it may be easier to open up to you than anyone else.

Definley! Help him/her. Your still the littlest bit of friends. How would you feel if you didn't help and he/she killed the themself. And you know in the back of your mind if you did something it could of help. The person who wants to commit sucide would proably listen to you because they have feelings for you and trust you. They know you better then just an old friend who could help.

Diffenitly..... you and this ex-lover know eachother very well already (I hope) and that would make it easier for him/her to be comforted by you.
