Right on Dave, when we take responsiblilty for our own actions and don't put them on a supreme good or bad guy, then things will change.

I'm sure some individuals have already transcended religion, and walk the earth enlightened (that is a mystery). But you asked about man. Most of the people we know, will not transcend (whatever that means), and probably not myself either. Perhaps there will be an epic moment, a point in time, where man can look back and say, "This is where it all started from." Perhaps that moment was when Christ ascended.

Yes, I think the people will wake up and see organized religion as it really, really is. A vehicle to control people with happily everafter unproven wishes for an everlasting ,on &on &on existence... Notice I didn't say life...I can't find a heaven, and I sure as hell can't find a "lake" of fire with the devil...Mythology is still alive and well in the 21st century. Pretty Sad.

I sure hope so. I understand the human's need for believing there is something bigger than us out there, but there is no proof to support it. There is more proof of extra terrestrial life, but you don't see a majority of the population believing in aliens.

Only if he can fully embrace his own spiritual nature, and let go of the dogma.
God is WITHIN us...not in that darned church on the corner....and NONE of us really knows what God wants...we just hope...and hope is a good thing.

Judging from the body count of militant atheism, I'd say we'd be in for a bad time if we did.

I'd like to think so, organized religon holds us back from our true paths. I think the time is coming for a change.

Perhaps. But it will depend on our ability to create alternate institutions that address those (disguised) social/cultural needs.

yes, i think religion is too much hype. after we realize that it has been used as a tool to keep us in line, i think that we'll be able to embrace God better.
