Well....hate to break it to you but times will be changing! First off we probably have had Gay men in office...they just did not come out of The Oval Office Closet! As far as a women in office. Come on! Think about it! Don't you think most of the strong minded First Ladies we have had made a lot of decisions for their husbands???? Hm mm!!!! Who do you really think makes half of the decisions? Non-Christians???? Do you really think Bush is a Christian? If I call myself a Queen do I get to live in a castle and be bowed down to every day? As far as Blacks in office, I can not answer that question...other then lack of votes. However, I am certain times are changing. The bottom line is if a person is even a step above Bush...I'll vote for them. It should not be about race, gender, religion or sexual preferences. Perhaps our next President will be a
Black Gay Woman who chooses no denomination when it comes to religion.

One at a time; Women couldn't even VOTE 80 Years ago and many still don't believe a woman is capable of leading the country (not my opinion)
Gays have largely been taboo by society as a whole. An openly homosexual man or woman would have a difficult time garnering 50% of the vote. They'd have to be a very special individual.
Jim Crow laws just gave the Blacks equal footing legally not but 40 years ago.
No one would vote for a Muslim, Buddhist, Daoist or Athiest; See the answer about Gays.

Because life is unfair and people, when congregated into masses, act like morons.
Because this country was founded on wonderful principles, but was held back by the ignorance and prejudice of its time. Women were not allowed to vote, black people weren't even considered to be people. Homosexuals were locked up in prisons and mental institutes. Non-Christians, along with ethnic groups, faced gross discrimination. These groups have, over the past 200+ years since this country's founding, have been fighting for basic civil rights, nevermind forming a base of support and raising the funds needed to run for president.
Check back in another 300 years and see how we're doing.

Good question.
Remember that for a very long time, Blacks were not even considered to be people, much less citizens of the USA! Women did not even have the write to vote until a hundred years ago, and it took a constitutional amendment to secure that.
Only two of our presidents throughout history were NOT members of the Masonic Lodge. They were John F Kennedy and Jimmy Carter.
Masons are men, and are usually white men. Since they seem to have some sort of 'in' with the presidency, others have been left out.
If we had a parliamentary form of government in the USA, I think we would have much more diversity in leadership. Leadership would also be much more responsive to the people.
That's my two cents worth.

A case could be made that some of our first presidents were non-christian. Thomas Jefferson was a deist and very critical of religion. When he was running for president, his political opponents accused him of being an atheist.
Washington never mentioned religion, did not ask for a clergyman when he was dying and was probably a deist.
Madison spoke out against religious influences in government and public life.
Adams may or may not have been. He was a Unitarian, which was closer to Christianity at that time, but he was a secularist where government was concerned.

The same reason we just had our first female news anchor. We hide behind American Flags that stand for freedom, opportunity, and equality, and none of them exists except in concept. Now google female presidents and you will find many other countries that have esteemed women high enough to hold the top office. The United States is among a bleak grouping of intollerant countries.
Keep asking these questions though. Maybe someday, the answer will be better.

I have to stand up for Bill: if Bush is a christian, Clinton is a saint.
They haven't been the president because the rich white people in the corporate world won't give campaign contributions to Jesse Jackson or Hillary Clinton...
Also, a woman president might be bad because some countries where men still hold women down they would be ashamed to be ordered around by a woman like they've been done by other US presidents... it might cause people to call our bluffs or refuse to negotiate, etc...

the world is not ready to accept change....
there is no way someone would have elected or let a Black man be president 20yrs ago... hell they dont even want a Black now. As far as women go... I think men in general are scared of the power that the woman has and will enforce given the chance. As far as gays go... people as gays are just now being recognized and are still far from being president, hell they are still working on personal rights... let alone being voted president... And as far as christians are considered... if Bush is a christian.. he sure does break a lot of commandments!

Well, given that it wasn't untill 80 years ago, that it was socially acceptable for women and blacks to attend school with the males...I'm almost certain that a few of the presidents were in the closet on their sexuality, again, not socially accepted...and as for the non-christians, well, it will be a cold day down "south" when anyone messes with the whole "under God", or "In God we trust that is minted on our money, and in our country's anthem...Christians are supposedly upstanding, "moral" citizens(ahem), although I'm sure we can all think of a few that contradict that statement...

well its simple. in most goverments that are strongly judeo-christian you never will see other then dominant male in power. because christians, muslims and yes sadly even hebrews will not allow anything other then a man they can control. those others might get their own ideas of running goverment and change things.and unless we had a more then 2 party system here in america it will never be a democracy. look at many elections those that are more connected to power get to be president no matter how the vote goes or do i have to remind you of the george w and al gore election?
