I guess you could send them back, but first think about all the jobs they retain in our country. Do you want to pick fruit, clean houses, watch some rich persons snotty kids or work at walmart? I know that I don't. Now think about the wages that these immigrants are getting paid as appose to what a citizen of this country would demand. Do you want to pay more for these things, because I can assure that if you think a pound of cherries cost a lot now, it is going to cost twice as much if one of our own are picking them. Everyone in this country immigrated here at some point, and a lot of them not legally. People argue that they are stealing our jobs, however, they are doing the jobs that no one else wants to do. It may not be the way that things are supose to be done, but it is a way that works.
Edit: "We also need to get rid of the provision giving children of people here illegally citizenship"
My family came here in the late 1800's via Vermont, not through Ellis Island. Does this mean that since I come from a family that immigrated illeagaly that I have no right to be a citizen? Maybe I should be deported back to Ireland? Or do these rules only apply to the "horrible" Mexicans? I think that maybe we should spend a little bit more time worry about drug smugglers, lack of education for our children, gas prices, the phone tapping our government does, and so on rather then getting into a tizzy about something that has been for many, many years..........that has no real solution.

I don't understand the false choices given. We are told there are 2 choices. One is to give them all citizenship, the other is to round them all up in one night and deport them. Those are not the only choices. The most viiolent ones and ones already ordered deported should be deported immediately. It should be impossible for anyone here illegally to get a job, buy a house, get on an airplane, send their kids to school, etc. We need serious workplace enforcement coupled with a welfare to work plan that slowly replaces illegal aliens with Americans. We also need to get rid of the provision giving children of people here illegally citizenship.
Any time there is a raid it always creates panic in the illegal alien colonies here. A couple raids coupled with what I wrote above and most would be forced to leave.

Neither deportation nor amnesty is the answer. The best way to reduce numbers of illegals is to start putting pressure on businesses. Don't hassle a small landscaper with a couple of guys and a couple of trucks, put the heat on large businesses who have lobbying power. That will make something happen. Guest worker programs are a part of the solution. They would basically become contractors. We would be able to track these people and ensure that taxes are paid for what they owe as well as ensuring that they are treated in a humane manner by their employers. Advances in technology in the areas of different systems of agricultural production and automation of processes would reduce need for human labor, too.
Punish drug dealers and others who come here for malice more severely than U.S. citizens. I equate coming here illegally to work like speeding, it's not that bad of a crime. Also, last time I checked, the terrorists weren't jumping a fence and they weren't picking fruit and grafting trees, they were flying planes into buildings.
Remember, illegals aren't paying taxes to their own government while they work here, either.

I think that they should be charged for entering the US illegally, and they should be deported. Let them go through the same process that everyone else has to go through. It's not our fault that they live in a dump with a corrupt selfish government. Also, they should stop being supported by taxes. It just encourages more illegal immigrants to enter the US. Because of them, taxes are going up, wages are getting lower, sexual assault and illegal drug selling have went up. All they have done here is make the US just like their home. If they really want a better life, why not go to school first? I mean, isn't public school free?

neither answer makes any sense. we can't deport what we can't find, which is why i don't support deportation. it would be meaningless to send back some but not all of them, and it would be expensive, and it would break up communities and families here. that fixes nothing. offering amnesty would be cheaper and kinder (but i don't know what you mean by "rights")... and a guest worker program would be more like europe. it has not prevented terrorism there, so i'm not sure it would be worthwhile.
i refuse to live in fear, and i refuse to terrorize people who are not harming me. it's wrong, and it's unamerican. if they break the law, punish that individual when you catch him. but i do not think this country needs a dragnet for dishwashers, maids and yard guys. police states suck. we can do better than that.

Immigrants should have the opportunity to stay they are all very hard working and attain goals many think would be impossible due to their legal status. Many of them even succeed much more than those whom where born citizens. They should have an opportunity to stay and about paying taxes yes I agree but educate yourself people some already do with TIN #'s but hey if they pay taxes just like citizens, they should be given the right to vote.

for some (ignorants') info the illegal immigrants here do pay taxes and they can not claim any even if the gov owes them a refound so try using your head and make some research before you say anithing at all. now to the q my opinion.......well i think every one deserves a chance just like your ancestors had it (pilgrims?) or are you afraid we do to you the same thing you did to the indians? anyway, but in the other hand i wish they send us all out of here just so you learn at last how much you really need us here, a little lesson i guess you deserve it for being sooo blindly and stupidly proud and racist (for those who are) "man are they retarded" well as you always said "be carefull what you wish for"

They ruin this country by having there kids here, which means they become natural born citizens, and even when the are ILLEGAL they can get wel-fare, in which I'm only a little above the low-class so thats means I haver to pay taxes that go to them. They usually have a lot of kids, itr means more schools are needed, thus more money to speand on them. It just ruins America, the more people the worse
