I think maybe a lot of folks didn't notice because they don't know who he is and haven't seen him in their lifetimes (I'm talking about most of the younger folks on here). A lot of people know who he is once Pink Floyd is mentioned... but know nothing else. I think for a lot of Floyd fans he was missed before he was ever dead. He did shovelfuls of drugs even after Pink Floyd and was later diagnosed with schizophrenia and kind of wandered the earth... he just kinda disappeared

Yes I did see it, very sad loss indeed, or is it.... I mean what has he done in the last 20 years? He lived with his mother, no work, no creativity. Yes at the time he was quite good but what would have it been like if David Gilmore had not replaced him?!!

Goodbye cruel world I'm leaving you today... Goodbye...Goodbye!

Yes. Interestingly, my 20 year old son said he was listening to the early stuff the day before the announcement and he said he thought to himself, "He sure made some great music, at least he is still alive." Sadly, that was not true but it made me wonder about coincidence or if my son was tapped into something bigger.

Yes of course, it was widely reported, at least by the BBC. And they never did any really good albums after he left.
