I hear this term over and over, so I'm wondering what groups & denominations are considered to be "fundamentalist?"

can you name some examples for me? thanks.

from most of the answers given so far, I fail to see what's wrong with being a "fundamentalist"...It seems they have their heads screwed on right.

God Bless Fundamentalist! lol

Baptist, Mennonites, Pilgrim Holiness, Christian Apostolic, Wesleyan, Nazarene, Wesleyan Methodist, and Brethren in Christ are some examples. I know there are others.

Absolutely! The premier site for this is...

It's not so much a matter of denomination as it is a matter of individual churches or even individual people.

Pat Robertson would be a prominent example. Westboro Baptist would be the most extreme example of fundamentalists. Southern Baptists are often on the softer side of the fundamentalist spectrum.

See if this works:

More importantly, I would like to share with you the Truth about the afterlife. I only tell you this because I care what will happen to you when you die. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, used God’s name in vain? These are just a few of God’s Moral Laws. When you die, God will judge you on the basis of His Moral Law. If you stand guilty before God of breaking His Laws, He will send you to Hell. If God is Just and Holy, He must punish lawbreakers. The good news is that God provided a way for you to be forgiven and go to Heaven. Jesus Christ died on a cross and rose again to pay the debt for your sins and take your punishment. What you must do is Repent, which means to say you are sorry to God and turn away from your sins. Then put your complete Trust in Jesus Christ. Only then will you be accepted into Heaven, not because you’re a good person, but because you’re a bad person who’s been forgiven. Please give this some thought. Your Eternal Destination depends on it.

Generally a fundamentalist Christian is someone who takes the Bible literally, and believes it is without error. S. Baptist churches are usually fundamentalist, many non-denominational churches tend to be fundamentalist, even though they may have a contemporary worship style they are conservative in their views.

I am one.
I believe in the Bible, that it contains the truth as told by God and humanity's only salvation is through Jesus the Christ. I believe it is my mission to do as Jesus did, attempt to persuade people, not force Christianity on those who are unwilling.
I try to live my life as an example, but know that I fail and I ask forgiveness for this. I realize that others also sin, yet I must correct my own sins before excoriating another.

Me.

Fundamentalist christians are those who take the Bible to mean what the passages obviously mean and believe it to be the inspired word of God.

Non fundamentalists try to change the meaning of scripture to fit with their view of the world.

Pat Robertson, anyone who doesn't appreciate the beliefs of others, someone who uses the Bible to live medievally. There was also a guy running for office in the Bible belt. He didn't think pregnant unmarried women should be allowed to teach. They are everywhere, not just on TV.

I am Southern Baptist and I guess we are fundmentalists because we believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. That means that everything comes down to what the Word of God says. We don't believe in watering down the message because something is old fashioned. God says He never changes, He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, so we should remain faithful to His word, yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Here's one of my personal favorites... ladies and gentlemen, I give you Pat Robertson... the strongest human being that has ever lived... (But somehow, this "fact" hasn't made it into the Guinness book yet...)

Seriously, how can anyone be so foolish as to follow this obvious liar and con man?
